We should scope airframes not seats. Let the company figure out how they want to configure the airframe to maximize revenue. If they want to try an cram 80 seats in a CRJ 50 let them have it. The CRJ 700 should be the largest airframe DCI can operate. The 170/175 should have been a mainline aircraft.
So 70 seaters should be flown by mainline and should be outsourced too with management getting to choose which airplane to buy? I have to wonder how many CRJs would be purchased vs EMBs in your scenario. Clearly there are better ways to scope RJs. How about this: A 6 year compliance window ratioed in as appropriate to this for domestic codesharing: 1. No aircraft over 60 seats or 60,000 lbs a. No more than 60 seats may be sold on an ALK operated flight 2. No more than 25% of Daily Domestic Departures (including ALK) 3. No more than 15% of Daily ASMs (including ALK) 4. No ticket may be sold unless at least 50% of domestic segments are flown by Delta Air Lines pilots (including ALK). A passenger that connects to a Delta operated international flight may connect via one segment on a codeshare flight 5. For ALK codeshare no less than a 1:1 ratio of passenger enplanements +/- 5% BTW I want to see the ALK codeshare gone and all 51+ seat flying eliminated by NLT their ASA contract dates however I would accept the above or something like it. I’m financially ready for a strike and I will not vote yes on any contract that does not include a 50% reduction in all domestic outsourced flying over 50 seats (including ALK) as well as some much stronger language on international codesharing. I will way all other aspects of the contract as a whole and make an appropriate yes or no vote based on those sections as a whole however, section 1 will be looked at all alone. |
The corporate spin-meisters have been hard at it this week! AF 747's in ATL... helping us out, you know--with all of that "aggregate cargo" we've been having such difficulty with.
The 737-900's are coming, and just maybe, they won't all be replacements for higher paying aircraft! We are all set for widebodies for the rest of the decade, thank you! The 100 seat Unicorn Jet isn't quite 'there' yet. The MD-88 used to have triple the segment cost of an RJ-50! (Thanks to terrible lease agreements on the MD's, and a back loaded finance deal with Bombardier) This bid may not be anything to write home about, but the next one...:p But don't frown gents! It could be worse! You could be working for USAir! unsubscribe... |

I agree! How are displacements to the 88 "all good news"? Talk about out of touch. YGBSM
