In addition to the staple rumors, now there is a lot of buzz about Skywest buying Pinnacle. That would make Skywest about 11000 pilots and over a thousand airplanes. They would be the largest airline in the world. I don't even see how a staple would work with them so big and flying for every brand.

Nah, you'd buy SWA just to dismantle it. :D

Nope.. I'd just crush them with fare sales. Speaking of which...

Who started the latest round of fare increases? Yup. And....

Bags fly free? Anybody seen one of those ads lately? Me neither. Several articles out there about how GK is in no hurry to stop those on AirTran routes.. hmmmmm maybe he is realizing that all that free money isn't such a bad thing. Anybody wanna lay odds on SWA charging fees before all is said and done? Once Joe public forgets about the bags fly free campaign, it will start creeping in.. it is inevitable.

...more and more like the legacies with each passing day.

Maybe there is no staple, just SkywEst buying Pinnacle?

Soon all of our DCIs will be operated by one airline? Which means we subcontract to Skywest who subcontracts again and somehow that's cheaper?

The public perception is that SWA is still less expensive and that they do not charge for bags. He will play for as long as he can.

Bucking Bar:

Certainly this contract is about more than pay. From what the Negotiator's Notepad and the Chairman's letter said, this is full Section 6, only expedited. Scope will most likely be part of it. I really don't see us making concessions in the area of scope though. There hasn't been anything from ALPA that makes me think they are considering any concessions. Isn't it hard to make that case when the company is making fairly good profits?

acl65:

You think 5, 5, 5, 5 will pass? I don't see that happening. Most guys I talk with are looking for double digits for the up front pay raise. That was the point of my previous posts regarding the comparison to SWA. As a minimum, shouldn't we get the Roger value of 11% (or close to it) up front?

TheManager:

Thanks for the welcome. Regarding reality, we all have our own ideas on that. Some of us have been through divorces, bankruptcies, foreclosures, etc. I have. And some have had it better. When the time comes for a vote, all I can say is choose what is best for you.

I do not know Tomahawk 58, but have had friends tell me who they think a particular forum name is. One question for you: how is it that you post under the name TheManager, but the post is edited johnso29? Can other people edit our posts?

No I do not think that 5,5,5,5 will pass, not even close. I do not think that a 20% raise will pass either unless the total contract easly exceeds the industry, and by that I mean LUV pay on the M88/73N and WB pay on our current percentage basis above that. Scope is a must no matter what the pay is, but many will not trade pay for scope or scope for pay. It is a package deal. We want a career flying DAL's fying, not a job.

It's completely random. Schedulers say to each other, "Hey, watch this!", and laugh. Good thing the contract limits them t 6 SC's.

When pinnacle goes bankrupt they will probably shed all of their united flying leaving them a dci only carrier again. If delta were to step in in some way shape or form a lot of 50 seaters could be parked. Obviously most of us at pinnacle chose this place because we thought it was a good opportunity to work for nwa/delta in the future and if anything crazy like what some people mentioned in here said about a staple happened most of us would shut up and do what we are told and be happy. There would be a few
Morons claiming date of hire but they can go screw themselves. I say just put in a stipulation that they can't lose their seat for 5 years or something. I'm not saying any of this will ever happen but I did buy a mega millions ticket today as well so maybe I will buy pinnacle
