Good news, MCO is about to kick the TSA out.

We can't afford Alaska. Seen their stock price? It would cost us a heckuva lot to buy them - would likely mess with Richard's plan to reduce debt substantially as DL would have to borrow to buy AS.

You gotta be $hitting me! I have already been on reserve for 4 years, I was really hoping this would be my last year of reserve. I guess I have at least 2 more years to go!

We need an early out with retiree medical to get rid of these old farts already!

We wouldn't have to spend a penny. Just swap a little stock here and there. As long as the BOD's and Execs get enough out of the deal to buy another island or whatever it will happen.

Delta didn't "pay" for NWA either. One of the reason AS's stock is so overinflated is their bloated partnership with us in the first place. Add to that their cash on hand, which they keep in a merger, and their revenue, which the combined carrier also keeps, and it all rolls gently into one entity like an old man slowly slipping into a warm bath.

Outsourcing would have prevented this.

And is it MCO or Sanford?

I don't think the medical will cause much exodus...... I fly with tons of guys over 60 and while some say that its the insurance that keeps them here, upon further questioning I find out that's not necessarily the case. Most only actually fly 8-9 monthly (averaged), make around 200K, and enjoy flying planes. My last trip out of 4 I was the only one under 60!

I think whoever puts those updates out has been pulled aside and "educated" about the needs to manage pilot expectations. There is no way, barring a massive downturn or another scope sale, that we can get away with putting off hiring until 2015. That is just insane and they know it. The fact that they are pushing the limits of reality just to manage expectations is not only effecting their credibility but possibly tipping their hand to how "constructive" the negotiations are going to be.

Of course I'm sure if we agree to outsource another couple hundred large RJ's that will create mainline jobs LOL!

Flight Attendant's experience is probably a precursor for our own. Their super senior folks did not want to retire early because of "lack of insurance." Now that they are offering insurance, they say "I'm just not ready."

Completely agree...posturing for negotiations. Once they have a contract in hand, it's off to the races.
