If they change that to ALV + 15 then they can assign a reserve a 15 hour trip if he is one minute short of the ALV. That is a big change. It will reduce staffing significantly.

I wasn't sure what it meant, thanks for clearing that up, and I agree, it WILL reduce staffing, as will increasing the ALV's by 5 hours for regular line holders.

OK, It's not in the Note Pad, but just for fun, let's say the company then offers an "Early Out" package for say, 500 pilots.

Well, just the 5 hour increase in ALV will more than cover that.

If 11,000 pilots each fly 5 more hours, that's an additional 55,000 hours being flown by the same 11,000 pilots. Divide that 55,000 additonal hours by today's ALV of 82, you've just lost 670 pilot jobs.

500 early outs, but 670 less pilots needed. A win for the Company, no doubt.

Split 50/50, it's 335 less in each seat. If the company did allow 500 early outs, and they if were all Capts., they only need to replace 165 of the 500 who left.

Hey, look on the bright side, they haven't offered the early out yet, and if they do, maybe they can make that 165 up with...

More RJ Capts!

Meaning you're done at guarantee unless you want to go higher. AMIRITE?
I guess it depends on how you read it.
If you are not "full" until you hit the guarantee can they still give you a trip that takes you over the guarantee but less than ALV + 15? (max reserve)
That's the way it works now, correct?
Or can they never give you a trip that goes over guarantee? I guess we'll find out when we get some actual language.

Exactly. We Ned to see all of it to make a final decision.

Maybe the scope is that all 70 seats and above is coming in house and we need this productivity to stay competitive with the regional guys. Just wishful thinking.

It means they can assign a trip if you are below guarantee not to exceed alv+15.

That's the way it is now. Unless they change something else, we just gave them a major concession on how much they can fly reserves.

I believe that would be a decrease of a little over 1%, not 6%, if they ran right at the top of the TLV range.

Oh...I missunderstood what I was reading, I thought they were raising the ALV by 5, not just 1. That's good, but still a manning loss, even if 'only' 1.267%, that's 151 pilots off a 12,000 pilot list...and there's that extra 15 in the reseve thing too.

Right now unless you have a yellow in ALV= done and they cannot exceed ALV on a trip assignment. You can YS to max pickup.

You have to see the whole deal to make that statement.
