My own personal experience isn't all that great. As a five year Delta pilot I am still on reserve -- certainly not what I would have expected -- and as of the first of the month I am not even in base but commute to reserve.

My own experience pales however when I hear the stories from the captains I fly with many with 20+ years at Delta barely hanging on to the Left seat. Quite a few moved back to FO positions, perhaps that can be seen as a career advancement because now they are "senior line holders" with a 25-40% pay cut...

Shouldn't our motto be:
"When one Delta pilot has a problem we all have a problem?" oh, wait...

i live in base and prefer reserve as it gets me more time at home and i can live without a 90 hour month. Your post suggests "we'll all be senior someday" so let it be the junior guy's problem. I don't think we should be buying improvements elsewhere at the expense of reserve guys and i could bid away from reserve if i wanted to. Really junior guys don't have that choice. Let's work on improvements for all pilots and not condescendingly say "well you're junior/bid reserve on purpose so you deserve to get abused."

Exactly, too many guys come on here and the Dalpa board complaining about their lot in life, and it's exagerrated. Had a guy omce complain to me about how he was being "abused" on reserve, always being called out, given short call, etc. So, feeling sorry for said individual, I checked his schedule, 3 callouts and 2 short calls! This was on the 27th of the month. He promptly called me and acused of of stalking him, and I flat out told him that he was a liar.
