Que, or is it cue, in shyguy to say that will NOT be the case.

I wonder if the medical exam will go away. Another way to save money.

Delta self funds it's health insurance, UHC just administers. Disability pays more than retirement and the medical allows them to see things that they could not legally ask otherwise.

If the medical exam goes away, from any career position, it would be a false savings.

Never saw him again. So it may be the physical that weeds out 'fat guys', not so much the fat guys sitting across the table!

Luckily for me, I was running 6 miles a day at that time, so I had no worries there. But as Bar points out, it's too easy to gain weight if you fly International trips, you eat out of boredom! I put on quite a few lbs. when flying right seat in the MD911. When I finally decided to lose it, I just simply stopped eating anything but salads on the airplane, (no dressing, just lemon juice) spent more time in the gym and on my bike, and was able to drop 20lbs. in about 6mo.

I've got to go ride my bike now, you all have fun with the pancakes!
they do the EKG, but not on a treadmill. Hardest part was the eye exam! they gave me the wrong line and it all looked like little circles to me. nurse told me I failed miserably. doc came in and said he put the wrong line on there and I did fine. talk about a scare

According to insurance guys who know about these things, the most important question is "Are your parents still alive, and if so how old are they?" It's one of the most reliable predictors of your mortality. My brother and a friend of his were both applying for additional insurance. My bro, much like me, is 20lbs overweight, doesnt' work out enough, and takes statins. His friend is a work-out fiend, just about zero body fat, but his dad died at 59. Our dad just turned 75, mom is 73. Guess who got denied insurance.

One of the roundest Delta Pilots I've seen in many years is our VP of Flt. Ops! If you're well fed, maybe you'll get lucky and have him for your interview.

But there's also a 64 1/2 yr. old LCA on the 777 who looks like he'd do well in an MMA cage match and will kick my butt in the weight room every day! Just hope you don't see him!

I don't know what's so surprising. I asked a major pilot long ago what is the best airline to work for and his answer was the one that hires you. If DAL is the best, that's great and maybe it's true but as everyone knows it's mostly about seniority and QOL and you have to get hired first. The SSP is practically meaningless without substance and had no or little play in voting.

What are the eye standards. I'm 47 and I'm starting to need cheater glasses. I'm wondering if this might be an issue

The interview is a points based system, and the SSP will be graded the same and have all the elements of day 1 (only) Traditionally it has a 60ish% pass rate on day 1. Some days only 10%, some days 90%.

How would you logically think that rate is going to change given that it is the same thing and graded the same? Logically continuing from that, given the concentration of those stuck at the top of the seniority list, it would be much more likely to have a significantly lower pass rate.
