Yes, if you have reserved Jumpseat to work. It's a benefit few if any other airlines have.

I haven't seen a post covering this in a while... Anybody know what the most recent "drop" was? I'm assuming it is still all to NYC, just curious on the numbers for each airframe. Thanks!

Been doing emerald coast interview prep to keep myself fresh.

Tks!
They continue to hire as fast as they can. Simulators are the bottleneck.

CVG is slowly shrinking. No backfill as guys bid out.

New hires are getting mostly 88s and 767 but also a few 737 and 717.

Junior base is clearly NYC but new hires can transfer to pretty much any base they desire within a very short time (as long as this hiring pace keeps up). That being the case, there really isn't a "senior" base for new hires except CVG. There are first year pilots in every other base.

However, it is probably no bueno to call saying you need this positive space seat while still on probation, right?

A lot better than not showing up. I think as long as you followed the policy, you'd be fine. Though I wouldn't want to find out.

You can find all the drops in the delta poolie thread. Still mostly nyc with a little ATL and Detroit every now and then.

Its a policy for everyone and its designed to help the operation. While you certainlly want to be abiding by the rules (plus a little margin if you can…remember the rules talk about realistic availability 24 hours prior too, not just 2 completely oversold for weeks flights…screen shots are your friend) things happen and they don't expect new hires to teleport to base, nor do they expect new hires to move to base. There is nothing wrong with using the commuter policy while on probation, as long as you are obeying the rules of it and are planning a responsibile comute.

I've called once on probation. It was a day prior to beginning reserve and there was a huge ice storm forecast for ATL. I had the JS reserved on a flight that was supposed to depart 2 hours before the storm was supposed to hit and there was a legal backup with spots available 2 hours after my primary departure time. Well, scheduling ends up cancelling my primary about 4 hours prior to departure, I was still able to reserve the JS on my backup which was then showing delayed 4 hours. I called scheduling and they PS'd me on the 1st available flight to LGA from ATL. There was no pushback from scheduling, I never heard anything negative from my chief pilot, and it wasn't even brought up at my regularly scheduled probationary chief pilot meeting a couple months later. Just 1 data point, but from my brief experience if you play by the rules the company will honor their side of the agreement without repercussions, even if you are on probation.

Exactly. Also if you're concerned about this go read 18. D. 2. Once off OE, even probationary pilots can't be canned without a good reason. Abiding by the rules 100%, keeping the company informed and being honest is not a good reason. But it won't come to that anyway. They don't expect new hires to teleport to base or move to base.
