The nice thing was I was getting my full mil pay for 3 months which coincided perfectly with INDOC, sims, and OE. Hopefully my timing was such that those 40 numbers never matter.
ditto.....screw attempting to have perfect timing.

Wow!! And it also sounds like then you have to wait 6 or so months for a class date. So you're looking at 10 months or so from the interview invite to start date. Does this sound about right?

The length of time that you wait can change very quickly as hiring picks back up. The latest word that I got from an instructor last week is to expect 1000 new hires next year.

Just to add to the rumor mongering...

I just spoke with a Chief Pilot who said management authorized a slight overage in hiring above what is called for by Network Planning. Management wants to "get ahead" of the retirement wave. He didn't have a specific number...So somewhere above the 600-700 number Network Planning previously discussed.

Good news!

Just curious because I haven't looked in a while and am now trying to help someone getting out of the military plan their career... With all the hiring in the last couple years, would someone interviewing early 2016 be in an incredible position or have missed the ball a bit? Just looking at retirement numbers alone, where would someone end up if they started with 20 years of time left? How about 30 or 40 years? Thanks!
