Sage advice there Obi, read and heed.
There was a guy in my new hire class who spent his first year pizzing off Capt.s and F/O's by beoching about the impending B scale. "If you guys put us on the B scale, we'll fk with your retirement!" type of stuff...
He was warned by the CPO to keep his mouth shut...twice.
He was fired on his 'end of probation' checkride, when he told the check engineer what he really thought...

Great advice!!!
The only problem I see is that Oberon is just talking on a semi- anonymous message board. He is expressing his opinions and not attacking anyone on a personal level or face to face. Yes he is a Newbie ( So am I...senior to him by the way) .
Oberon has been to the right of em and he also has been over my shoulder in the cockpit and while he may come across to some on here as a spoiled brat he is a professional pilot who at the end of the day wants the same thing as the rest of us.....

For what it's worth, I don't know of any Delta pilot who feels that way. You were hired by NWA to fly a Compass jet for some period of time and then move to mainline. That is the deal you were offered when you came to work for them, and that is the deal that Delta assumed when it merged with NWA and is now honoring, having sold Compass.
No loophole. Just people living up to their end of a bargain.
Welcome aboard!!

They'd go from a cost competitive feeder to an exponential cost supernova overnight, likely with no way to staff the virtual "airline" once recalls began, so recalls would have to be accelerated to shift more flying to mainline, which would exacerbate the problem.

We get a benefit from the flows for sure. Its a huge deterrant for furloughs and displacements and that benefits us all, as well as significant job security for the most junior among us.

I appreciate your comments and concerns Take Em, but don't worry about a thing. In EVERY group there is "one of those guys". No matter how hard you try to get "that guy" off the train tracks, he's destined to get run over. Nothing you can do about it. It's clear from your attitude you're not "that guy" and never will be. Oberon is a special case who I learned did this exact same stuff on the regional threads when he was their.
I'm sure 99% of your guys are top shelf. And 99% in any group is pretty damn good. Beers on me over in NRT.

The question is how they behave in this APC conversation. Here, they are judged on what they say, and the credibility of their posts, not their company longevity. I'm all for relentlessly pounding on someone for writing like a freakin' idiot, but let's not get into the habit of discounting newhires because they're newhires.
Everyone is welcome into the arena. Just be prepared to die... I didn't read Oberon's stuff, so I'm not sure whether it deserves a thumbs-down. Let the crowd decide...

Isn't it the job of a newhire to inject new perspective? These people arrive at Delta equipped with a lot of experience and knowledge, though not always Delta-specific.

I seldom do this, but I'll take your word for it. I haven't done my homework on Oberon's exchanges. I don't even know the topic.
I'm only reacting to the "sit-down-and-shut-up-newbie" theme I perceive in a couple of threads.
On the other hand, whether you're new or not, if you mouth off, whether in the real or virtual world, and you don't know what you're talking about, don't be surprised to see lions and gladiators.
