Details on Delta TA

Well, if you have a 3 hour break, can you go to sleep on minute one and wake up 3 hours later? I think not. I think most guys are like me and takes at least 15 to 20 minutes to eventually get back in the seat and start resting, then you have all the noise from the galley etc. You are lucky if you can get 2 hours of sleep in a 3 hour middle break. Don't get me started on 1st and 3rd...
Yes, it is better than LAX-JFK allnighters, no doubt. But are you saying you do not fly international trips any more because you cannot make it past Fallon?

But seriously, I do like international except when I am waking up from my inflight nap and the arrival nap. Both times I seriously ax myself why I am doing this... and I am pretty good at sleeping on airplanes. My father in law calls my ability to fall asleep quickly "the gift".

It depends on the CDOs and how they are constructed and what contractual protections you have. The good ones aren't bad at all. The bad ones only work if you stick to the shift. If you think you're going home and running around with the kids and "getting 'er dunn" around the house or side business with maybe a nap, you will be in a world of hurt. Ditto for a schedule with a lot of red eyes as well as many of the lower end international trips.
There are plenty of safety critical third shift jobs in society. You have to adjust yourself to do them though, or they are incredibly unsafe. My problems with the CDO's as we agreed to them at the time were the block time length (too long), inadequate IROP min ground times and the fact that they were sprinkles into the bid packet and would end up on people's "regular" lines as well as sprinkled among reserves. The reserve part is of course inevitable, but there needed to be downline protections, such as nothing until 10AM (day one reserve standard) the day after you land.
Our TA CDO's and FAR117 had some good stuff in them, but they were both jacked up with concessions to the company to mitigate the cost side.

Geez, Jerry just how many places did you post this after emailing me and asking about this?
Boyd has the chart. ALPA used it in an email to us.
I will ask him to post it here. It's the one they are using to rush a new cost neutral deal.
Management negotiations strategy 101
Create a crisis and have the lemmings repeat it.[/QUOT
Chart was in Spring Wiget page 36. A clear attempt to sell fear and nonsense. Why would they post this?
It was not Boyd's chart. It was Boyd's the entire MEC.

No gzsg, WHY do YOU FEEL and spout off nonsense such as management wants to reduce profit sharing?
There IS NO proposal to cut profit sharing.
There IS NO proposal to continue pay banding.
There hasn't and won't be any proposals or openers to exchange until next spring. Be a part of the solution and not part of the problem. There are 4 webinars coming up where Delta pilots can have a direct hand in helping craft the topics for the contract survey. This will be a perfect opportunity to make sure your voice is heard and have an influence on the direction of the Delta pilots. I'll take part in one of these webinars to make sure that I've done my part in a real way to make sure that the Delta Pilot's voices are not only being heard, but being asked about the relevant subjects.

I attributed the 2017 downturn chart to Boyd. I was wrong so I wanted to correct myself.
The completely ridiculous chart (used to lower expectations) was in the Spring Widget.
Therefore an MEC communication. I apologized to Boyd and corrected it. I asked him to communicate that forecasting a 2017 downturn is like predicting when the sun will burn out.
This type of nonsense harms our cause and is unacceptable.
