Just a reminder how old and stale these pay rates really are. They were written 15 years ago.

It comes down to state owned businesses competing with publicly held companies outside their own region. These states don't have our interests in mind. Not sure how many here remember the Arab oil embargo. Our supposed friends in the region had us by the nuts. Do we want to allow their states to weaken our carriers like they have done with many carriers throughout the world then stand by while they hold us hostage to their politics again? A few Europe to USA flights could turn into a large number in short order. Hopefully it takes care of itself though lack of interested pilots for the ME carriers as the U.S. Big 4 hire in mass but the battle needs to be fought now.

I found it ironic of Tim Clark to say our working conditions are bad, while its no Google, I feel it would better here than there. But I dont have a dog in that fight seeing as I've never worked over there.

I think he's actually saying the reverse is true. The 19 members that make up the MEC should be (or are) frustrating for the line pilots because there is a power struggle that is harming our unified front. Management will use the disunity to weaken our position. Infighting does not put more money in our pockets.
Harming our unified front? Which front of is this you speak of? There is no unified front.

I've been an ALPA member and supporter for 25 years. Never have I seen a weaker charade when it came down to unifying this pilot group prior to this negotiation. No real effort what so ever. Just lip service.

What is astounding is that even after the DPA close call, back to business as usual.

Sad actually. Shiznit. Pull your head out and remove the asshat. Ask yourself some honest questions as to why there is a power struggle.

Maybe, perhaps maybe, there is a top down hierarchy run by the shadow old guard that are finally getting stood up too. God forbid. You mean, not all the LECs are falling in line and snap off a salute! What the #%$@ ! Perhaps these recalcitrant LECs are actually following their constituents wishes. Imagine that for a second.

So. If there is infighting, whose fault is that? Who does he MEC chair work for? Who does the shadow MEC work for?

It's not amazing to me at all that you are not no longer an elected rep.

Which brings up the point, assuming all LECs know what their constituents put in their contract surveys, do one or two LECs have a right to stifle the stated contract priorities of the rest of the pilot group if they were different from their own group? They would have the right to argue their point obviously but how far would be too far?

Since its majority rule, I would think no?

Which brings up this point. Do you really think that one LEC would have vastly different survey results from another? Statistically and mathematically, not likely at all.

You may be right but there are definitely different demographics and backgrounds at the different bases.
