It sounds like you think that someone at DALPA should sit in judgment of a member's behavior with regard to sick leave (and presumably other behavior). So exactly who at DALPA should make that call?
And what standard of proof should that person use to determine when sick leave becomes "abuse?"
It sounds like you want some unidentified person within DALPA to be the judge and jury. Whatever it takes to help the company, right? Wouldn't that make ALPA an extension of the CPO?
That's not how it works, my man. That's not why we pay dues.
Very interestesting first few posts. Are you by any chance aligned with management? Are you Rich Harwood? Or Joe Thomas?

Sounds like Ol' Joe is ready to take the hill! I wonder if the medical record release would be enough for him, or if he'd need to conduct a personal exam himself? Maybe he could play 'I gotcha!' at the golf course with some binoculars and camo. Man, he's gonna save us from ourselves!
Seriously, if they try to play this broken record again, it's going to be the same old tune. WRT sick leave, speaking of broken records... how about a sick bank? Can't we all just get along??

Fair enough, but there is a simple solution - lets adopt portions of the AMR and UCAL sick leave programs and modify our policy to align with their policy. Specifically:
1. Bank unused sick hours.
2. "Sick if needed" on reserve.
Then we can have a much more valid comparison of our sick leave usage. Because comparing our program with programs that contain one or both of the above is comparing apples to oranges.

By way of example, when I took command of my Air Force unit the retention rate for first term airmen was 15%. By the time I left, retention was 90%. Why? I changed the culture that previously rewarded people for behaving badly and failed to hold them accountable when they didn’t show up for work, to one in which those who performed were promoted and given increased responsibilities and opportunities.
Obviously I don't know the guy, but from the tenor of the letter it's guys like this who made me want to leave the USAF. It's like a trip when the captain's 1st words are "I'm really laid back and easy to get along with...". You know you're in for 4 days of pain.

Our Union yes men have become intertwined with management and feels it is more important to please the executives then represent their own dues paying members. They have been brainwashed by Moak to believe they are smarter than the average line pilot and are in a position to not only save us "rocket surgeons" from ourselves but to also please their "daddy" over on Mahogoney row. They lack integrity from the start so the hand picked ones have no problem selling out the group for their own agendas or to fulfill their giant egos.

Ludicrous ego, he believes his own OPR bullets. It's like politicians single handedly taking credit for an uprise in the economy. Maybe they bumped it a little one way or the other, but more than likely they were just along for the ride. I don't mind Col Joe taking credit on his OPR since that was the game, but to pull that BS here?

I got lost when he mentioned "Integrity".
We have been taught by the best when it comes to being a good corporate citizen.
We lost our pension while the company spent millions to pre-pay the pensions for the more equal pigs.
We watched as the company sold aircraft and leased them back at up to 5 times the going rate in order for the leadership to make their bonus number. (Their bonus was based on cash generation, not running a profitable corporation).
We watched as the company bought stock in order to pump up the value of their options.
We gave up a boat load of pay and advancement while the head shed has been made whole years ago.
Go sell integrity to someone else.
If he wants to be a boot licker, he can apply to be the APU sheriff.
