Do not vote Joe Thomas for C44

I think we had a sick bank flyback at brand X that helped with the lower number of hours per year. I never used it so someone else needs to weigh in on the details.
Lets say you call in sick for a 5 day (or larger) trip but the sniffles go away sooner than that. You could call in well, pick up a trip that touches the footprint of the trip you called in sick for and pay yourself back the sick time for a future disaster.
Not that it's my job to fix the companies theoretical sick abuse problem, but that may help that problem too

Correct. But we can't just start at zero - and that is what makes this difficult. Might as well just keep what we have now.

This is a good point.

So joe's got your vote, got it. I can't believe I'm reading that fellow pilots would even consider electing a guy who already
1. Believed the company data
2. Thinks it's his job to "get" the abusers.
3. Lumps No voters with DPA
4. Thinks TA15 was great.
5. Sounds like a total "I'm Joe great commander" tool bag.

The Company data? The data is what it is and clearly shoes a spike in sick leave in May '13 and '14 ( as the sick leave year is about to end ) and then use drops dramatically in June '13 and '14 ( the first month of the new sick year ). No other pair of months come remotely close to such changes, even at the height of the flu seasons. If not abuse, why the spike at the end of the sick leave year?

It sounds like you think that someone at DALPA should sit in judgment of a member's behavior with regard to sick leave (and presumably other behavior). So exactly who at DALPA should make that call?
And what standard of proof should that person use to determine when sick leave becomes "abuse?"
It sounds like you want some unidentified person within DALPA to be the judge and jury. Whatever it takes to help the company, right? Wouldn't that make ALPA an extension of the CPO?
That's not how it works, my man. That's not why we pay dues.
Very interestesting first few posts. Are you by any chance aligned with management? Are you Rich Harwood? Or Joe Thomas?

The verification changes as proposed would not have been an issue for those truly sick, only for those trying to scam the system. Maybe they would have decided it wasn't worth the trouble.
And, no, I am not Rich Harwood. But thanks form the compliment, Rich's is a sharp guy.

I always thought it was ignorant to have sick leave based on June 1 to May 31 with everybody on the same cycle. Why not base it on the pilots hire date? That should take care of the spikes that the company is so worried about. See....easy fix. Win...win. Now let's talk about our pensions. FedEx would be a good start.
