If guys want to do this every month I say great for them. Even junior Pilots are now routinely getting 2 GS a month in a lot of categories.

Most importantly - my category is probably typical and has seen multiple OOBGS, GS with Conflict and assignments. If the company was manned properly FOs would not be able to credit 100+ hour months routinely - even with LCA bidding.

I'm thinking it should be easy for top 5%er. Buddy bid a LCA and get most if not all your trips dropped. That'll put you at the GS trigger without flying a single trip. Put in a blanket GS and fly 75 hours of GSs. That'll put you at 225 for flying 75 hours.

Guess the trick is knowing which LCA are being used the most.

Works great - sometimes. Had 4 LCA trips in March and not one dropped.
It probably works a lot better in NYC or ATL on the 88 and 717 - other bases/equipment are much more hit and miss.

The other factor is you are passing up a lot of sweet trips to "hope" your trip with a LCA gets dropped.

And one other thing, you could end up flying with an LCA (or 4) all month!

How about a little 'Extra' IOE for you?!

Some of those guys just can't turn it off...

And I said nothing about not exploiting the contract. But when FOs are making more money than captains on a regular basis, there is something wrong with the contract. The occasional great month is one thing, but he said he regularly pulls down those kind of hours. That's wrong.
Definitely bragging. Flew with a few guys like that last summer.....

I'll buy that. What's your fix? If the E190 CA rate is less than the 777 FO is that OK? If we took back all brand flying would the Delta Elite Lear 35 left seat have to pay more than the 777 right seat?

I get what you are saying but where do we go from here? I would go fly a kite if it paid me enough and got me holidays and weekends off with a reserve loooong call of 30 days. It is pay, schedule, ego, time to retirement, previous military retirement/tri-care, family situation, and a variety of other things including the ability to maximize the contract that makes pilots bid the seat they want. I think those decisions are all valid on an individual level.

In 2014 I out earned a friend who took the first Captain upgrade he could. I guess a base with young crew members and a looming divorce will do that. We flew the same airplane just different seats and bases. Chicks dig four stripes, mine just happen to be stealth black.

I hear ya. My most recent trip was a LCA trip that didn't get bought off. Quite a risky game to play especially if you're missing much nicer trips for the gamble.

...if only we weren't playing reroute roulette. I'll take that chance, the pay check is the only reason I'm here. If I didn't need the money I'd have a villa on the Mediterranean and stay as long as I wanted not try to compete for a 40ish hour layover on the weekend. To each his own.
