It seems doubtful that these are the current conditions.

Malone has been trying to keep the process moving and bringing the pilots along. In that effort, it would be suddenly out of character to take such steps and not inform the pilots.

The reps would likely be rushing to their SM outlets to get this stalemate scenario out to the public, as well.

We should see what progress, if any, is made by the MEC when they reconvene.

Impossible to tell. They both have the same talking points.
Is there a difference?

Exactly! Why we agree to anything before talking money is beyond me.

Because money is usually the easiest negotiation.

You have to negotiate it sometime, preferably before you start giving stuff up for it.

It is??? Seems like negotiations knock out the easy stuff first and save money issues till the end where they beat each other over the head with costing models and revenue projections.

It's now clear, especially with your throwaway avatar, that this was just a fake post. It's interesting how Moakies fear the NMB and the possibility that we may have to fight with the company for what we deserve. Sadly, you thought this would also scare people and we'd want to settle for the company BS. Instead just the opposite is true.

For just a second I had hoped this rumor was true and that our negotiators actually went back and fought for us instead of just giving something to get something. Sad.

He was being a contrarian smart Alec.

At which point they try and justify what they've done for how little they did it for.

If they did the money first, when they get to other sections they could just say, sorry you didn't pay us enough for that concession. We are happy to up the cash and discuss it.

But it's all tied together. Want the pay rate to be little less? Well, better give us another week of vacation and pay us more for training........want FO trip pulls.....better increase the pay rate, a lot...etc, etc.

None of the contract sections exist in a vacuum.

Bottom line I think agreeing to anything ahead of time ties your hands later in negotiations.

That would be good news as I've heard many rumors that we hadn't updated our re-opener and had AIP to all the company needs. This is the first good rumor that disputes all the discouraging ones regarding the NC.

I find it hard to believe that NMB would "side with the company" under the circumstances. The NMB reportedly supported or even encouraged SWAPA to do exactly what is reported here.

Do we need the NMB's permission to talk to the company outside of mediation? I thought we could do that whenever we wanted.

If its true the company is walking away it is time to turn up the publicity heat.
