Say you're LGA 200 based and TDY to MSP. For that month you're essentially based in MSP. You bid based on your seniority.. could be a line or reserve. The company provides positive space to and from MSP as well as a hotel. And per diem. It's a good deal.

Oh boofuqinghoo! Is Delta your one and only? If you got shut down, wouldn't that motivate you to get out of the Delta system? Don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Complaining to your FO on a four day about how your aren't Delta material is getting old. Just GTFO! They turned down some quality folks, hired good ones, and hired some nuggets! Move on!

Sorry to hear that. I'm sure it's not a great feeling. But don't let that define who you are as a pilot. Also don't let that disappointment affect good judgement. There will be plenty of opportunities and you will land on your feet.

So, if I'm LGA based but live near DTW but can't hold DTW due to no vacancy, can I get TDY to DTW? How would that work?

When they no longer need you to TDY then the NEXT you bid in your regular base in seniority order. BTW its a month by month gig

Based on your seniority you can bid Temp Duty in DTW. If you are awarded the spot then you bid that month (in seniority order) for DTW flying. Since you live in DTW you drive to work. Not sure if they give you per diem if you already live there but that would be nice When they no longer need you to TDY then the NEXT you bid in your regular base in seniority order.
