I can tell you, from my experience a couple years back...the process for me was night and day better than other carriers I was considering. I think our recruitment team is top notch. I've met many of the field recruiters, and judging by the quality of new hires I've flown with recently, they continue to hit it out of the park. What's wrong? Nothing whatsoever.

There isn’t. But it’s an attractive offer to someone still currently in high school trying to figure out what to do with their life. It’s become an easy story to tell how Joe Neighbor is an airline pilot, and he’s been busting his butt since 2003 trying to get his call from mainline and is still waiting, so he tell all his neighbors kids not to get into the industry because you’ll make crap money and it will take forever. Now delta can say, hey kid, go to UND or riddle or one of our other schools (and give them A boost in student enrollment which was probably another factor why they are pairing with schools since the pipeline is starting to run dry) and be with us in a streamlined gateway to flying a Boeing in the next couple years.

Long story short, it gets interest in the younger generation to get into flying. Not to give us a middle finger. The majors have a lot of hiring to do in the next decade, it’s not all about us at endeavor, they’ll run their feeders dry of pilots and then what? You need to keep those Feeders stocked of new pilots too. It’s not all about us right here right now. They are planning for the long term pilot shortage. We are coming into the next era of aviation. The fine lines on the paperwork might not be worked out yet for us, and from a union standpoint it looks like we are getting shafted. But we have to remember, retirements alone are on the up, more and more people are starting to get called. Opputtinites are gonna start coming to people have been waiting more than their fair share for a shot at the big times.

So am I worried about a flow and other gimmicks? No, a flow now is like those gateway programs in 2010. It seems all real important to get locked in with someone when it’s all doom and gloom. Hiring is gonna open up. Everyone will get their oppurtinity.

What's wrong is the branding. Delta has quite a few things going for it right now. There was a day when just about the only thing they had going for them was the DELTA brand. They almost ruined it with the SONG fiasco.

Propel? DGI? SSP? SSI? Whatever?

Call it Delta and be done with it. Hire guys with a Delta seniority number and let them wear a 9E uniform for a while and pay some dues here.

Make it a probationary period-good attendance, a hire-type board to review discipline, PRIA, and FAA actions. Make em get 1,000 PIC at 9E before moving on to DL. That will keep the churn going. No homesteading in the right seat. That will give everyone a chance to get out of NYC. We could make that place an enclave of DL seniority number guys and nobody else would have to do time in that Shawshank sheethole of a base.

Sure, it will pish off old guys like me, but it's not like we're going anywhere. If we were, we would've been gone by now.

Stay the course, be patient, and even better things will come our way. You of all people should know this, Bartok.
Compare your paycheck to your mainline counterpart and tell me if you still think your paycheck is fat.

Anybody else considering quitting, going to one of these flight schools and having a guarenteed 42 months or less flow to Delta??

DGI doesn't guarantee me a timeline. Best possible outcome of DGI, 18 months to a maybe.

What about all the people that already graduated from said flight schools, maybe they can just get in front of the line!

Let’s see how you feel flying around with that “Delta” FO in your right seat as they put in their grueling 42 months of regional horror.

Take a deep breath, buddy. Step away from the keyboard. They're not out to get you...

Sadly I can imagine a 4 day pairing between a Delta anointed FO and a double no SSP Captain to be a difficult dynamic.
Does this mean we don't need recruiters anymore; sounds like we're boing told who to hire....
