So aircraft and base bidding as a new hire is based on last four digits of SS number? Younger people get choice over older new hires?? Whats the deal with this?

You are confirming that aircraft assignment is not based on age during initial? How does the process work? Younger people will actually have a higher last four of SS. Never heard of an airline doing this.

No, it's just more random that just choosing by age. This is the way Delta has done it for a long time.

Why would older people get preferential treatment over younger people? Glad it got fixed, cause what does this sound like to you?

They have to do it somehow but there will always be a loser who runs to a lawyer.

SSNs are randomized... You are just as likely to have a 64 year old or a 21 year old be the most senior person in a class. That being said, if you have a 00xx SSN and want to be the most senior person in the class- I might suggest a different airline.

Probably because statistically, they are more likely to have a family and other obligations that make them more likely to incur hardship by being away from home base longer.

Being senior in your class is cool and all but it’s just that, senior in your class. You’re still junior to everyone hired before you... It’s not a big deal and it’s the way Delta has been doing it for a very long time.
