From the memo: “The ability to stand by or select seats in these cabins is contrary to Delta’s deadhead travel policy, which requires all Delta and Delta Connection crews to sit in the main cabin while traveling as deadhead crew members.”
Clearly says Delta and Delta Connection. Now I understand that memo means nothing to you and that’s fine. But the only flights you are entitled to the upgrade are ocean crossings and flights to/from NRT/HND that are more than 5:15 block. Everything else is main cabin. Looks to me like you could get stuck with this too for the majority of deadheads.

From the memo:
“The IT issue has since been corrected and Delta Connection crews will no longer have access to select or standby for seats in the Premium Cabin.”
That doesn’t say the fix applies to mainline.
As for our DH language in those situations you mention, we must be booked into Business class or better. There’s no upgrading involved.
Yes, the rest are booked into the Main Cabin but we still can upgrade ourselves as I’ve already pointed out. Nothing has changed for us.
To those taking cheap shots at me, this isn’t a mainline vs DCI debate. If certain peeps can’t respect facts being added to the conversation then that’s unfortunate. Point the anger at your managers, not other pilots that had nothing to do with this. I guess that’s what I get for stepping into the conversation.

I think the issue was they didn't want crew showing up on the standby list, so customers could see. We can still select C+ if it's open, or if the gate agent puts us there.(at the time of this post) We also still have contract language for FC on some long flights as well.

The memo is saying the ability to even select premium seats is going away. Or am I not reading it right?

Maybe you should familiarize yourself with mainline contractual DH policy before looking like an idiot.
Our contract requires certain DHs be in Business class or better. Never mind the fact that IT has gone through great lengths in the last year to give mainline pilots the ability to upgrade ourselves through Delta.com to Comfort within 24 hours of departure AND put ourselves on the FC and Comfort upgrade lists.
Is it lost on you that this is most likely the case of a 9E employee spouting off on something they know nothing about? You really think a 9E memo dictates mainline DH policy or that this memo is the absolute gospel (meaning accurate) on the subject? That’s laughable.
Read the memo carefully before spouting off. It says the glitch has been fixed for DCI crews while stating it was prior mainline policy. I’ve shown that’s not true, therefore, the memo is not correct about the mainline policy.

Oh and I’m the idiot??? I sure as h$ll don’t go on the mainline forum and start throwing stones at posters there. This is a bull $h!t change to our deadhead policy and the fact that you interjected yourself to support it speaks volumes of your character. I’m pretty sure that we have never bumped a revenue passenger for select seats. So the issue is appearance. How does a customer differentiate between mainline pilots in uniform and regional connection pilots in first class or comfort plus? Being crammed in a middle seat when on a required deadhead sucks plain sucks. Especially if there are seats available up front.
Where did I say I supported it?
Where did I throw stones?
Offering a correct interpretation of what was in the memo along with the correct info about mainline DH policy is important to the discussion. If you’ll calmly reread the memo and then some of these posts above you’ll see there are misconceptions out in the ether. I would expect you to correct something like this on a mainline thread.
You’re attacking my character now? I get it. You’re overly emotional about this and it shows in your posts. It’s not the first time you’ve worn your emotions on your sleeve on this forum. You’re interpreting blunt, short posts as “throwing stones.” Am I supposed to pat you on the back and say everything is going to be ok? I mean, come on, we're all adults here.
Countless mainline DHers get stuck in middle seats, too. That’s a consequence of flying for successful airlines sometime.
Again, you’re attacking someone who’s trying to give context. If you don’t care then don’t read and quote. I fully expect them to come after us about this, too. It’s only a matter of time.
