If you don't like flying and have a lucrative side gig, then it's actually a really good deal. Keep your seniority number and continue to accrue longevity while not having to go to work! The continuing to accrue longevity is the key.
I can think of a few folks who could/would take advantage of such an offer.

I’ve been around for awhile and I can only think of maybe one 900 NY CA that might take it but even he won’t because he would lose insurance and then you have the majority of of pilot group being here less then 5 years and had hopes of trying to move on in the near future (that’s gone) none of those guys will take it. I doubt we will see even see a double digit number of guys/gals taking this. I don’t mean to be a RayJay but short of a miracle (which could happen) some of the pilot group is looking at a forced leave.
For those of us counting (or not)...
I didn't include PHTs, because I've learned over the last few months that they don't count toward positions on a vacancy or realignment, even when they move.
Of course, voluntary displacements or movements per bid can reduce the number of involuntary displacements.
- 70 positions up the active NYC 900 CA list is #761 - 5/9/2016.
- 50 positions up the active NYC 900 FO list is #1744 - 9/23/2019.

DG already said they would consider offering VEOP in Q4 2020 if they needed to. Problem is the Delta VEOP would not work for us as most of our senior pilots are in their 50's.

I mean I think this is a little hyperbolic, and very fox news worthy. Another institution pointed out, correctly, that August and September are of the highest emigration months for nyc both in and out. And that while "estimates" say it's higher this year, it was also much higher after 9/11 and the financial crash. But people keep coming back. You can't kill NYC

Just my useless .02 here but anybody thinking a VEOP at EDV would do anything to save jobs isn't thinking logically. Look how many at Delta took the VEOP and how many they're still furloughing. Say 50-100(generous estimate) take a 'VEOP' here, its still not a 1 for 1 tradeoff. Thinking that a VEOP is going to be enough to save jobs at EDV is a pipe dream. The company has too many pilots, they're pulling them out of NYC in huge numbers and sending them to places that don't have the demand. It seems pretty clear that even with a huge LTLOA turnout(unlikely), there will be furloughs unless CARES 2 passes.
