I think that what everyone is saying is that yes, you will commute at Envoy for a period of time. However long that may be. But you'd obviously commute at Envoy for a much shorter duration of time than EDV- which would be your entire time there. I'd recommend everyone go to EDV over Envoy, EXCEPT, in the instance that you live in an Envoy base. Having that ability to drive to work as an option down the line is huge. Commuting makes the job a living hell. I've been there done that. Turns it into a completely different job. But of course, ultimately the decision is yours. EDV is an awesome place to work with excellent pay, work rules, and QOL. If you think that it's worth commuting there for the duration, then by all means go after it. Good luck!

If you've never commuted before, you can't really understand the impact it has on your job satisfaction. Like the previous poster stated, it is absolutely a completely different job if you live in base versus commuting. I had one of the easiest commutes imaginable, and it still sucked most days. Living in base is a game changer, no question. If this is your first 121 job, talk to commuters and talk to those who drive to work. Make up your own mind, but my personal experience is that it was by far the worst part of the job (worse than draconian work rules, being junior manned, crap first year pay, etc.)

It was only ever offered to the 175 because it was the only base.

There were a select FEW pilots that got the 145 DFW in training because they let you pick your base. It was short lived in spring/summer 2015.

Pedro, do you have any updates on this weeks class assignments? I'm assuming the same as last week.

With much better schedules. I'd end up with more time off and at home with a line at endeavor.

Any guesses on timeframe for a new hire to get to MIA?

What happens with the signing bonus if one is fortunate enough to get the call from a major shortly after starting with Envoy?

I don't remember seeing it offered to new hires in class but my guess would be after the first vacancy bid after you're hire date. Vacancy bids have been happening every 3-4 months. Flow to new base would be a few months after that.

Signing bonus: If you leave within the first year, you are supposed to pay it back in full. Between the end of year 1 and year 2, the amount is prorated. You're clear after year 2. You will sign a contract stating such if you come here and accept the bonus. I have not heard if the company is legally persueing it's legal right to bonus payback for those that leave in less than 2. Really, I find it odd that no story is being told here on that.
