He doesn’t have to make video’s for Envoy. He could make other videos not related to 121 operations, but notice how Envoy “allows” him to make these videos. Both parties win financially while the rest of pilot groups will feel the brunt. Seems like a real sweet deal, you guys should all support him and tell him how great he is!

I get your point. I don’t have any stake in this game, but it would probably make me feel some sort of way if I was on property too.

As someone said earlier - there are pilots at every airline who do business with the company outside of their pilot contract. And there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s called capitalism and being able to market yourself in an otherwise non-merit based career. No matter how good each pilot is at their job, you can’t really “get ahead” in aviation very easily.

Some make software, some work in management, some show up in safety videos, some own flight schools that do contracts with the company, and Swayne just so happens to make videos. Which he’s been doing for 7 years. Unless I’m wrong, I don’t think any of you here spent years building experience working with the FAA and airlines to get approval for cockpit footage and stuff like that.

And for those of you talking about how he posted a video during contract negotiations.. do you not remember what he posted on Instagram the day the company backed out on your agreement? The video was released hours before your union announced what had happened... so how was he supposed to know before any of you? THEN he didn’t post another video publicly until your contract was finally agreed upon.

I don’t know Swayne well. I did however meet him since I went to school at UND. But what I do know is that over 84 pages of comments on nameless forums about him seen wrong. And if you spend time looking at what he’s doing and the timing of his posts, this thread doesn’t seem right.

True, it has zero effect on me, but I gave my opinion, and I have plenty of experience that goes with that opinion.

As someone who previously worked at a regional before moving on, I can personally tell you all about how supply and demand can serious destroy QOL and overall moral at a company. Management at essentially every company has done nothing but spent every minute of every day to find a new way to create concessions. The new trick is to have individuals like SM feed the roster without increasing pay or work rules.

In fact, you couldn't be more wrong. I have said it before and will say it again.

1. He is a union member with all of the benefits of said union.
2. He at times makes videos that run contrary to the goals of that union.
3. He is afforded an opportunity that as far as I know, no other pilot on staff is allowed, thus not allowing us to start a business like this if we wanted to.

If he wants to make videos and show how great Envoy is all the while they are paying him for it, great, just do it with the tag that you are classed as "management". This concept shouldn't be that hard to understand, I don't see the issue other than people are wanting it to be so desperately about the person and not the issue at hand. I hate to break it to you, none of us care what he does in his personal life.

There are a few soap boxes I will continue to stand on. Most of the people hating on him are doing so because of WHO he is, which while not my thing, everyone should be able to do there own thing as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone else. But the rest of us are hating on WHAT he is doing because that HAS hurt the Envoy pilot group.
