Thanks. You're correct, I didn't go back in the thread far enough.

All FO’s are seat locked to their airplane. The only way you’re switching planes is if you upgrade or get displaced due to a base closure/downsize.

And for what it’s worth, OT opportunities seem to be much more plentiful on the 145, so the potential exists to make more money on it.
Yea, if you have the ability to live in base being on the 145 isn’t so bad because of the OT opportunities. Not that you can’t pick them up and commute, but commuting obviously makes you less flexible. Not a bad plane to fly though.

Non cadets can expect class dates sometime in October. Also, RW mentioned that instead of classes starting every other week, they’ll be starting every week if I remember correctly starting in September.

As for how long the 145s will be around. I know Envoy management wants this to be an all 170/175 airline but pre COVID AAG was planning on having the 145s through at least 2025. Last summer we had Envoy management saying we'd never hire into the 145 again. Yet here we are, hiring into the 145 again. I think they're going to be around long enough you can't count on being displaced any time soon.

There's also one other thing to consider for someone coming with prior 121. We are probably a ways off from this being an issue but Envoy can force upgrade qualified FOs and have done so in the past. If it happens again, you'd probably be one of the most junior qualified which would likely mean a forced upgrade to the 145.
When you say hold Miami, do you mean hold a line in Miami? Even just be based as a reserve in Miami takes years?
Let's say I get hired as a 145FO and I get based in Chicago, how long does it take roughly before I have a chance to be based in Miami?

Thanks!

There are no longer 145s in MIA. If you get a 145 as a new hire you will likely be stuck on it until you can make captain and move over to the 175. The only way for this to change is if the 145s get pulled out of the base you are in, ORD in this example. But this is something not likely to happen any time soon.

This was explained in the original response to your question, but you may have missed it with the other information.

MIA has been awarded in several new hire and/or recall classes, so holding the base could happen quickly, if you get 175. Holding a line is going to take much longer. No one can say with any certainty how quickly you could hold a line anywhere as the last 18 months have completely destroyed any data points. It could be four months or two years to be off reserve.

Approximately 3-4 years.
