The last official number I saw had them online till 2021/2022. Some are (or at least had been in 2012) still on finance to bank of Brazil and the bankruptcy filing had the hulls until 2021/2022 and merger filings and recent fleet plans have all mirrored the above. Like the Saabs AAG owns the frames, the 135s sold easily, the 140s don't seem as easy to sell, I think this has played a role in the consistent delay retiring the 140s. The 145s I'd assume the same, it will be the MX costs that put them out of service.

I know that domicile placement/equipment is based on seniority (age or SS#) but I have a question. Lets say you need DFW as a base but are awarded either LGA or ORD and cannot move there. If you defered to the next class do you get to pick first? or is it another crapshoot all over again? Could you ask the company to hold off placing you in class until you could for sure get your base of choice? It probably seems like a dumb question but Ive looked everywhere and can't find an answer. Thanks!

Thanks for the replies guys. Some great info there. I'm still a ways off from applying but just trying to get an idea of what to expect. At least it's better now that first year FO's are making near 60k as opposed to around 25k. I was at first surprised there wasn't some sort of cost of living adjustment or increase to be based in NY or some other expensive area as a first year FO. Now the recent pay increase at least indirectly addresses that. Also it was mentioned that unless you're about 40 or so you probably wouldn't get your first option.. I figured most (like 90%+) new hires would be just graduating college so in their mid 20's... Are there a lot of 40+ aged new hires in every class? Just curious..

There are many finally able to make the jump to 121 from other aviation jobs now that the money and career progression is there hopefully. I've met a lot that have lateraled regionals, former 135, retired military, helo guys. Some left there aviation job for a desk job, and have a flying addiction. Definitely not all CFI types like in the past.
