Man, if we're supposed to that, I missed it. I called in sick last summer once (was on reserve and yes, on probation). CS just said, "OK, no problem". I just rechecked my HI10, there's nothing there at all for that day. I never heard from the CPO, nor did I ever call it.

Always clear a sick call. Phone or in person will do. I have heard of someone getting in trouble for not getting it cleared. He was also in trouble for something else and they just tacked it on because that's how they do things. He said he called to clear it but they didn't have record of it. My suggestion is if you are paranoid then always follow up with an email as well.
But it is in the fm1 that you have to tell the CPO you called out sick. I know it's crazy.

FM1 states you have to clear sick calls with CPO.
ORD CPO is stating no need to clear unless you get an HI6 asking to come clear it. I'll abide by the FM1 and just call and clear it. People have been coach and counciled about not clearing sick calls and chronic offenders have been given step 1 notifications. Stick to what the FM1 states
