A few related questions:
1. Is it true a few NH’s within 50hrs just shy of 121 qualifying time for CA upgrade have been awarded CA, forced upgrade, displaced to CA in the last vacancy.
2. Is this voluntary option for NH ? Like by discussing it with HR, management, or the School House. Could Line FO’s make a request on a case by case basis or a discussion with the CP? Is ALPA screening these awards and validating the times or is it a Pre-Programing in the vacancy bid process in SABER?
3. Is it possible for HVA or Line pilot to get awarded in the next vacancy (if in March) when just short of the time by like 1-50hrs?
4. I hear it’s a contract violation, but is anyone filing any grievances? Or reporting this to ALPA
I’ve heard of a few other regional airline management doing this with CA awards when a FO is pretty close and able to have FAR 121 qualifying time before completing the Fed ride.
5. I’m amazed if this is happening, if it is a clear violation. If the rumors are true, could this be interpreted by the company as company discretion?

Definitely true, met a new hire the other day who is taking his fed ride soon and never got the “award” and or displacement.
I told him to reach out to the union for some assistance.

Ahh found the issue with your post. He wasn't asking about forced upgrades of qualified FO's, he was asking about forced upgrades of unqualified FO's who were just short of the 1000 hours. But thanks for playing.

Does anyone know how long it takes from interview (given one receives a CJO) to class date? I have heard of some backlog. Also, I am returning to the 121 world. I am assuming I should expect LGA 145 CA rather quickly with the "forced" upgrade?

Day 1 of indoc provided you can show 1000 hours of 121 time or combined 135/91K 1000 hours PIC of a jet or turboprop over 10 seats (or something like that).

THIS is what frightens me about the whole thing. Not directed towards the poster but the Envoy process as a whole. If someone has been away from the industry for a while there are things that are going to lapse and they should have at least a little time in the right seat to regain those skills and thought processes before jumping straight into a captain seat. Just because it is legal doesn't mean it is safe.
