As I understand it, once you have the A1 on that flight, you’re not bumbing anyone if the flight wasn’t booked already. So if you’re assigned A1 weeks out as part of your line on a flight that is not full at the time, then you have a seat on that flight whereas with the A3, you’re at the mercy of passengers buying seats all the way up until you get checked in. If wrong, please correct. If correct, for sequences in a line schedule that end in a DHD, this will improve your chances of getting home because the flights aren’t usually booked full several weeks out (I’m less clear on those that get assigned to a sequence that was part of a line schedule on shorter notice though). But yes, as I understood the email, for the DHDs that are created on short notice like a lot of researve assignments and reasignments after cancelations, this is just a different way of doing things... some good in it and some bad in it, nothing to get excited over.
The painful part will be the reserves not getting a deadhead for 5 hours...because its just a deadhead they can extend that for a long time. You can always call CS and try to get out earlier, but then you need to call them a second time once given a seat. A that time they could pull you off the flight if you are in a hub and your call reminded them you are available for a turn that just popped open.

$45K Pre-tax bonus isn’t worth it...
An income bump from $45K AFTER taxes bonus...might bring HVAs to the yard

It looks like the reserve list shrunk by about 10 CA/FO's for next month.
Did they get 10 more lines down there? That's a big jump, especially in MIA.
Only 10 FOs sitting reserve in the base. About double that for CA's, which seems to be about the opposite of what some of the other bases have.

I was recently displaced from the first few turns of my four-day next week. I was called by crew scheduling and sent a HI6 but they failed to mention why I was displaced. I'm guessing it was so they can help a junior fo get his consolidation hours (not for ioe). I already thumbed through the contract but couldn't find anything. I'm all for getting time off with pay, but can scheduling legally take part of my trip away for this reason?
Has this been happening to other people yet?

They can not. Check the n3d to see what it was coded as.

If you finish IOE in time to bid for the next month you probably get a line right now. If not then the next month for sure. Right now E75 reserve in ORD is about a month.
