PSA’s actions are well known, and while not scabs in definition, they’re scabs in spirit.

LGA E145 has been been offered to every new hire class since the base was re-opened in 2016.

If you want Miami, ensure you choose the E145, 175s currently have no plan for doing any Miami flying, they aren’t even doing any fly-through. And CRJ is only in Chicago so avoid that like the plague if you want to stay away from Chicago.

From what you stated above I would say choose LGA 145 in training, get through training and as soon as you’re on property, add a bid preference for Miami, you will most likely get it in either the first or second vacancy bid they run for that base.

Only other thing I would recommend is to get a degree, the flow here and at any of the other whollyown airlines is bad. And I wouldn’t ever rely on it. They’ve dumbed down these bachelor degree programs so much for my fellow (soal searching/can’t think for themselves) millennials that you should be just fine getting some easy degree. I’m sure you could get on with another major before this 9+ year flow works.

And one last added tip. Reserve here sucks. Whether your a guy that sat it for almost 4 years like some of us on property or guys that sat it for 1 month like most new hires today, it still sucks a big D***. So my tip is this. Go to LGA, and get a line (u will get one fast), but don’t transfer to Miami until you can hold a line there. Unless you plan to live in Miami itself, I would recommend doing what I stated above!

Congrats on your new career and best of luck to you! Great time to be a pilot. Despite all the whiny babies on these forums.
Thanks for the input, I’m looking into some online cheap degrees actually. But thought of going back with the loans I have now gotten on top of is really hard to do. Maybe once I do hold a line where I want I can settle down and knock out some classes. AA wouldn’t be the all or nothing place either, JetBlue and Southwest are other majors I wouldn’t mind either. But it’s nice idea flying bigger planes eventually.

Do you or anyone else know how long they are backed up with classes? Not sure I would get an accurate answer from a recruiter. Just trying to figure out the end of my survey contract and timing the interview.

I think you have upto 12 months from interview to accepting/starting a class date. So just interview right away and the work out the finer details of when you can nix your survey contract and get a start date with Envoy. You’ve got a big window to play with, so at least get the interview out of the way so if there’s is a backlog for start dates at least you can mark time while still in your current job.

any advise for someone who wanted to have ORD as a base? I start class the 24th. Should i try to get the CRJ? I hear the reserve times are worse than the 145 but i don't want to end up in KLGA. Cant afford, and don't want to commute. I guess i could try to get the 175 if its offered, but the extra bonus money would go a long way for me.

I think they’ve been giving new hires the option of ORD or LGA in the 145. CRJ would obviously guarantee you to stay in ORD unless you meet the minimum req’s for captain in which case you will be displaced to LGA 145 CA anyway.

The 145 is offered every class and you can choose either ORD or LGA. You’ll be fine.

Jail in Mexico? Hiding from some woman’s husband?

We could use some more humor here.

Unless something has changed very recently, when you pick equipment and base on first day of class, the 145 takers are given the choice of ORD or LGA all the way until the 145 slots are no longer available. So as long as the 145 is still up for graps when your turn comes, you’ll be able to pick ORD 145. I would not pick ORD CRJ if it were me. ORD 175 might not be bad with a significant portion of that group trying to bid back to DFW but I really don’t know. If it were me today, I’d pick any base 145 that was available and vacancy bid back to where I wanted to be if the initial base wasn’t what I wanted.

I believe it's 6 months

175 goes senior. Last class 3rd group (non pipeline/prior 121) got 3 out of the 12 slots offered. Basically don't count on it unless you're mid-late 40s.
Usually 145 were offered with ORD/LGA option. Last class only LGA was offered, presumably to balance the class before that where the vast majority went to ORD.
CRJ might or might not be offered. My feeling that it will be if no 145 ORD on the table. Again, last class that went somewhat senior. I think one guy in mid-late 20s got in from 3rd group. Last 5 people in the class went to LGA.
