The article is clear they are negotiating to see which of their regionals will get the 25. I would place ExpressJet, GoJet and Mesa at the top of the list for getting this business. Republic and SkyWest normally don’t fly United’s aircraft but their own aircraft in United’s colors.

I’ve been told the ERJ doesn’t have the balked landing performance.... wingspan has been a issue for mainline type aircraft...

I was told it was single engine departure procedures. Only the 700 has sufficient performance. The 900 doesn’t even qualify.
