I can’t imagine a new hire going to the 175. From what I heard at the interview it will be very senior. You could simply be on reserve forever as an FO. I’m not sure auto throttles are worth a possible life sentence on reserve . I could be wrong though. I’m very new to anything 121. Maybe 145 pilots are happy where they are at and do not want to go through training.

People do it all the time. Good friend of mine went FO 757/767 to CA 737 at DAL. We had folks back in the day go from the 1900 to the jet. No big deal.

Just a general observation based on past experience.
If your goal is to build flight time quickly, upgrade and move on, don’t bid the -175 at this time. You will most likely fly more as a -145 FO until more of the -175s hit the property.
