A long term TA would be desired by management in order to submit a proposal to United for the Ejets. It will be the same story always repeated over and over whenever there is a proposal to be submitted by any regional for a CPA.
If these Ejets start showing up in April (as was rumored), United will need to privately start laying out plans to onboard the plane with a regional in the next few months. The plane must go through conformity before they start this process. Also, pilots must be trained (unless you are Republic or SkyWest and already have a pipeline of pilots) and usually some regional pilots have to go to Brazil to accept the aircraft and fly them back.
I don’t recall the specifics but I do remember someone, management and or union leadership, saying they anticipated an announcement soon after an agreement being signed with the pilots. That was the entire reason there was a rush to get a TA.[/QUOTE
The same was game played with the RJET TA. Sounds like UA was onboard until, ...they weren't.

FWIW, upper management was in the crew rooms during the TA vote spouting off about how the airplanes will come “within hours” of TA passage. TV was also quoted as saying they planned on “going after” Mesa’s 175’s late next year. “We will need to hire 600-800 people in the next 12 months to staff the flying”, “Guys, it’s finally happening”, “Every f/o on property will have the opportunity to upgrade next year”, and my personal favorite “Great things are coming”...just a few things lobbed from the mouths of upper management.
Most of us are over it, and are moving on with our careers. UA/XJT have screwed around for way too long, and people are fed up with it. The CPP Scam, the continuous broken promises, and overall lack of anything positive has made me enact my exit strategy. Many more are to follow.

The Inc Quarterly conference call. Q&A asked directly about the E175 bid. I suggest you listen to that part. Wasn’t super convincing they had the contract locked down.. and pretty much said it’s in United hands to decide who gets the aircraft... if you don’t think Mesa/Compass/Republic are fighting for the aircraft then you disillusioned...

I hope I’m wrong, but my guess is that UAL is putting off the announcement because XJT will be the loser in the CBA bid. Management will feed some BS that a deal was close (again), but blame _______ for the failure to get it. Ownership by Inc won’t change and anyone able to do so will hit the lifeboats except for those with a CPP within reach.
It’s the same thing that has happened for several years.

[QUOTE=Blackhawk;2705579]ExpressJet has lost over 1000 pilots since the DAL announcement and the losses accelerated the last few months again as places like Kalitta have stepped in. Best case, they get the -175’s and swing a home run with a UAL purchase you’re talking maybe 30 pilots a month thy can be hired. Heck, double it to 60 a month. That’s over a year to train as many pilots as have been lost. UAL piddled too long.

If UA doesn’t assign XJT these airplanes or have some other form of future for XJT, they’re going to lose 1,000 UAX pilots from XJT over the next 12 months and will have to find new homes for 85 E145s + 20 CRJs.
Good luck with that.
