If they dont attract new hires to their regional swamp, cancellations will continue and customers who drive revenue ( not cheap regional labour) will continue to leave and United will just have to settle with shrinking capacity. So the answer lies in what will it take to attract new hires away from the competition?
At some point, there will be enough net departures from Xjet that upgrades will come more in line with the industry. Maybe, Xjet will become the 175 regional for United when that occurs.

calmwinds, there are many more joys in life then spending most of your days on a regional forum (judging by your post count). At the end of the day you have to ask yourself, does it really matter. Does any of it really matter. It's just a job. The airlines treat us like a number, we should also treat them like a number. There's far too much bantering on here; just pages of garbage. If XJT or any other airline closes, oh well, people will adapt. If it survives, they get to keep collecting the paycheck until the next adventure. But, we had a good run.

Why would it make sense for UA to award XJT 175 flying? Seriously and unbiasedly ask yourself that. It doesn’t make any sense from a business perspective to create a 175 program at an airline that can’t attract pilots just to give them 20-25 frames when there are other UAX 175 operators that can’t take the flying tomorrow.

No one really is, other than possibly Bloomberg and people in management at United and SkyWest. I am simply speculating based on the Bloomberg article, the long history of Xjet with the current United management, and the promises made to your union.

Again, what benefit would UA receive by creating an entirely new program at an airline that can’t staff the flying? It makes absolutely no sense.

I suppose the real question is, if Express Jet can't fill seats in training classes as is then why would having 175's (that'll probably go senior) change much? I mean if I was sitting around waiting to fly a 175 I could just go to Republic, Skywest, Envoy, hell even Mesa... I sure hope I'm wrong though.

I am just speculating. Who really knows SkyWest’s and United’s plans....
