DSPS, your theory is wrong.
You say you've been at ExpressJet for a while. I don't know if you were ERJ or CRJ? Some of your info is fishy.
I was in the Delta system for 22 years on the ASA side. About four years ago Delta started replacing RJ's with 717's in a few markets. Those markets lost frequency with the 717's coming into play. Those cities still have the same amount of seats. DCI at its peak did 52% Of Delta's flights per day. When I last had access to that info it was down to 44% of Delta's flights per day. Delta took back the flying and markets lost frequency. Now with the A220 on line we will see more flying go back in house.

The A220s also have a unique story—a half billion dollar subsidy financed by the Canadian taxpayer.
Delta has been very smart about these aircraft by acquiring them at really attractive prices by taking advantage of unique marketplace conditions. AA and UA missed these two boats, so now they’d have to compete with Delta on disadvantaged terms (ie, they’re gonna have to pay more than DL to acquire similar aircraft).
That’s going to be rough to make the numbers work. If AA and UA can’t make similar sweet deals for aircraft, the only way I can see they making up for the higher cost would be flying 100-seaters by paying pilot who fly them less than Delta. But good luck getting pilots/ALPA to go for this. Probably not going to happen even if scope is tightened in exchange.

If you’re flying BTR to IAH, you’re probably connecting elsewhere, too. You could also connect in ATL or DFW. So you do have choices.
I’ve seen someone drive to BHM from Atlanta to get on a delta flight connecting in Atlanta to go overseas because it was less expensive that way. Crazy, but shows competition exists at out stations.

no new hires have completed training and are on the reserve list at EWR for around 30 days. Are pilots from the 4/1 class onward that delayed?
There was a big delay this summer for the CRJ transition, maybe that is still the effect.
Also, note that when a company wants to "hire anyone with a pulse" training time will go up, in some cases double. Lower quality new hires take many extra sims, instructor slots, etc. However, from the seniority numbers it looks like the company has been cutting the fat from the new hire list much more than before.
Anecdotally, how many new hires are fired in training? I've seen about 15% from my class and others surrounding it.

New Hire Info
Hi guys have been offered a position with ExpressJet with an estimated start time of 6/10, anyone else in the same boat? Just looking for some information regarding;
1) sign-on bonus scheme explanation from people hired?
2) training time ie start of ground school to completion of line training?
3) aircraft new hires are going to ERJ/CRJ or new EMB's?
4) people's general thoughts on working for the company from rostering/duty time/pay/staff etc
I apologise if this has been covered already, just don't have the time to sift through the previous 90+ pages of the current thread.
Thank you in advance

2- It’s been running 3 mos. There have been some delays here and there but it should be getting better. Should be 2 mos.
3- it’s a mix based on need. If they need you on the 145 you’ll be on the 145. If they need you on the 175 they will put you there. They have been giving a choice recently but that can and will change as needs change.
4- I think it’s about average for a regional. There are those who think it’s terrible though. Like I said, about average for a regional.

Thanks mate, can you give me any kind of breakdown of the $5000 and $17000? My interviewer was a little bit 'grey' on how it all worked. All I can recall is $5000 sign on + $5000 for PIC endorsement + $x after IOE.
So the aircraft will either be ERJ/EMB and no mention of the CRJ?
Not sure if this is applicable to you as I am coming on an E3 visa, any idea about the ATP-CTP training, hard/easy?
Thanks again.

It appears they want a premium (or used to be) name yet it’s pretty clear this is going to be an average place, or worse. Chickens do come home to roost. Eventually.
