I don’t understand why you guys are so “giddy” over a program that guarantees you nothing.
Mainline seniority numbers gents—-DATE OF HIRE, MAINLINE SENIORITY NUMBERS.
That’s what you and your union reps should be giddy about—and demanding. Anything less is nothing more than a worthless shell game.

Exactly. Can't believe the email from a few days ago made it seem like this was something to get excited about. All they did was change the name from CPP to Aviate

If you want to act that way, that’s fine. I was asked a question as if I’d have to explain why I chose not to participate in a voluntary program. Nobody should have to explain why they avoided a program that keeps them in their current position for 24-30 months in this hiring environment. I’m enjoying my time with this airline so far, it sure beats sweating in the desert for another hot summer. I wish everyone the best of luck in their search for a career airline. This is not it.

There are clear and concrete details to this program of sorts. There may be a few grey areas down the line but for the most part, it’s written in stone.
My conclusions to this program:
It was designed by the UAX carriers and united to a.) lure unsuspecting new hires to UAX carriers vs any other regional b.) designed to meter (slow) the overall attrition (no less than 24 months).
It’s not a guaranteed interview by any means. You apply, get selected (by what means, who the heck knows?), interview, and sit in a pool attempting to keep your nose clean for no real specified amount of time.
Regarding the interview, it’s a panel review, technical assessment, and a personality test (hogan?).
So let’s get this straight, you work for endeavor, Skywest, Gojet, Republic, Compass etc. You apply at UA and a week later they call you. You go through an interview ( which I’m assuming is the same exact interview applicants of the Aviate program go to) and shortly after they offer you a job and class date. After which you can call in sick and use your vacation how you would like.
You work for XJT, Commutair, Mesa or Air Wisconsin. Wait 24 months, apply, get selected, interview (the same way as everyone else), get offered a job, keep your nose clean for some amount of time, get a final review and then a class.
I’ve gotta be missing something. Seems like a no brainer to go to any other airline if you want to get an interview and CJO with UAL.

You get that when you accept employment with United, not when you work for a subcontractor. United has made it very clear that they are not interested in flow. They can afford to pick who they want since there is a long line of highly qualified pilots wanting the job. The bottom line is that you do not in any way work for United, you work for another company who is paid by United to do a certain amount of flying. Through this program you have a guaranteed opportunity to apply and interview after the program requirements are met. That’s more than most other applicants can say, including those who served in the military. Those who complain about having to jump through the hoops probably wouldn’t be selected regardless. To work for United you are going to need a 4 year degree, a clean record, pass the Hogan, and get through an interview and review board. Getting hired at a regional doesn’t give you anything except the ability to gain the experience necessary to become a competitive applicant.

I don’t know why everyone seems to think there is no Hogan. There is a computer based leadership assessment as well as a computer based Becoming United cultural assessment. Sounds like Hogan X2 to me. Just another name change.
