OK then......so why don't the airlines get to have their landing/gate fees cut, or their fuel prices, etc, cut too since pax capacity is just 25%?
Why does it have to be labor that's disproportionally targeted?
I can't believe that anyone thinks voluntarily taking a cut will do anything. Didn't the industry learn that the hard way in the early 2000's?

People keep forgetting that people are just not taking to the skies. Who knows how long it will last. Somethings gotta give, there isn’t an indefinite supply of money for these companies to pay labor and stay alive.

Now is the time to stop the whipsaw.
I’m of the opinion XJT’s fate is set and UAX is taking advantage of a bleeding man by stealing his wallet. The block hours aren’t there, XJT doesn’t own their jets, and too many top tier or max pay pilots.
For an entry level pilot to come in now it’s $40/hr and say 80hrs avg line.
$40 x 80 x 12= $38,400 before taxes, insurance, 401k
No more sign on bonus.
Per Diem is not included because it’s not salary.
$40 hr is assuming you fly 75hr avg per quarter for the quarterly bonus which no new pilot will make until 2 or 3 quarters with a line.
With concessions, take home pay will be in the mid to high 20’s...all after $70k+ in training, 4 year degrees to be competitive, and hustling for 1500hrs min ATP (which will be meaningless because requirements will go up now to compete with furloughed pilots).
If XJT accepts pay and benefit cut it will have a trickle down effect to every regional and set the industry back 20 years. Working for 2002 dollars in 2020.
Remember ‘you must sign this contract to get the 175s‘. Then they got rid of them. Remember Letter 2? XJT is being used as pawns to whip saw the industry. Not just XJT but all regional need to stand their ground for this to work. Time to Braveheart this b*tch!!

If XJT takes concessions you probably stay open. Easier for XJT to cover all 145 flying than it does C5. Otherwise, they’ll probably keep C5 and do any hiring needed to pick up your flying. Depending on how many pilots are needed to cover 145 flying in the United network, they may not have to hire at all in the near future at C5.

Not this.
C5 doesn't have and never will have the capacity of EV. C5 HQ isn't capable of it.
Either:
a) UAL is going to keep EV open anyway, because it has a future need for the amount of 145 infrastructure that EV can provide, or
b) UAL is going to close EV anyway, in which case this is beating a prisoner for information before putting a bullet in him.
EV's fate is sealed either way.

between the JS garbage, 175 flying, and now this super obvious whipsaw - UAL has pushed the XJT guys too far. Time to put our foot down. No concessions. Commutair doesn't have the pilots to take all the flying.
End the Whipsaw

[QUOTE=Lebron;3097510]Highly doubt UA said this directly this to XJT, and C5 that this will be the only play to secure future flying. From a union perspective undercutting the industry is not the way to go at all regardless of the situation.
XJT management since giving up the 175’s and recently saying they are unable to come up with the assets and a long term commitment from UA to secure Cares ACT portion of Loans around 67 million, this is the only play they have. Show UA we got all segments of Labor to reduce cost by 20-40%. It’s a joke and I’m an absolute no voter, I rather find something else than be some where with no future and barely any income.[/QUOTE
I’m with you. I don’t think a yes vote secures a future for the company. It certainly doesn’t secure a brighter future for the pilot group.
