I’d think that United owning the planes is a bigger factor than prior investment stakes. We’ll have a pretty good idea how this is going to work by this fall. Here’s hoping for a faster than expected recovery.

This is the most probable outcome, but keep an eye on SkyWest. They look like an airline, but is actually an aircraft leasing company/ground handler/bank. In 2009 SKW lent UAL $80M and helped avert a cash crunch, while taking on more pro-rate flying for UAL (risk and profit sharing). This is one reason the entire Express operation in DEN was, for many years, entirely run by SKW, right down to the rampers, gate agents, etc. UAL could wash their hands of it and SKW ran it pretty well. (The Simplicity takeover is for another thread...)

If UAL gets in another cash crunch, look for SKW to swoop in and offer to do more pro-rate flying, and even lend money to UAL. I don't know what they do out in Utah that seems to work so well.

And no I don't/did not work for SKW.

SkyWest just announced the switching of MEI/PBI-to IAH. Under UA code..prorate. This is currently prorate for AA to DFW tell September.. And OO has some IAD prorate flights..

We can argue back and forth. But i do believe the 50 seater will be around. But in a different capacity... XJT rebranded again, as its own airline doing prorate markets back east/midwest... that way UA can claim the don’t have any 50 seaters and zero risk...

Sure - this ain’t black and white. I think it is Shenendoah out of IAD - staffed from ORD as a four day with some horrendous sits. Nothing to be too excited about.

Great - I am sure these will be the hottest tickets in town. Are they prorate or EAS?

It is interesting though to see MEI/PBI go to IAH. I didn’t think IAH had any 200 operation.

What is the typical EAS contract length? 2 years if I recall correctly.

PBI to IAH on a CRJ-200 sounds painful.

Where exactly does someone find the list of prorate and EAS routes for United and other airlines?
