What's the Latest at ASA/Expressjet?
#2011
I know this isn't worth anything at all... I jumpseat on SKW all the time and I've heard numerous folks talk about a recent order for 7500 iPads. Thats what? Roughly the number of the combined ASA/XJT, and SKW pilot groups. I'll believe it when I see it though. Seems silly to arm the 50 seaters with iPads now. I'm sure there is alot of testing that needs to be done, plus wiring both sides of the cockpit with mounts and charging stations.

I heard in recurrent a week or two ago that the EFB was waiting on Jerry's signature on his desk. Your rumor fits the timeline. I certainly hope it's true. My flight back is on the verge of falling apart! Anyway, our (CRJ) instructors were pretty confident that they will be issued to individual pilots, not airplanes. So prospect of 'arming the 50 seaters with EFB' is irrelevant.

Not surprised... PCL contract signed, AE flying went to Republic, nothing in the pipeline for any carrier at SkyWest Inc. In december the iPads were basically a done deal, and a 6-year FO was looking at an upgrade in 2013! amazing how quickly things change.

AQP as of today says the Ipads will be here within a few months. I guess we'll wait and see.

Are these AQP instructors ever on the same page? When I was in AQP instructor told us Air Mekong pilots are going to be typed on the A320. Later I heard Air Mekong's primary investors were thrown in jail and operation is shutting dwn.

Tony,
You've been doing this long enough. So be honest. You're telling me you honestly believe SkyWest Inc would make it in their own? No more gravy train FFD contracts. SkyWest Inc now must pay for their own fuel, mx, training, etc. All of it. They'll be responsible for advertising, insurance, catering, cleaning crews, gates, slots, etc.
Tell me how well that's gone for Independence Air, ExpressJet branded, Virgin America, SkyBus, and Republic. How will SkyWest Inc be different? RAH had tons of cash & great financing before they bought F9. Now look at them. They're desperately trying to sell F9. BB is running with his tail between his legs. SkyWest has neither the brand nor the client base to go a it on their own. Codeshare likely won't change that. RAH currently has FFD contracts supporting their Frontier operation, and it's still losing money. Please tell me how SkyWest Inc will be different.

Really? Give me an example. Each one of those failures were due to one thing, losing money. They couldn't make money. VA still can't. And they're flying a larger airplane with a lower CASM. So tell me how SkyWest will be different.
And the size of allowable RJs hasn't changed in years.
