The actually money earned minus what you have to pay back as an investment just to have the job and uniforms, eating expensive food in airports, hotels for commuting and the sheer fact that your life will probably be substantially shortened from exposure to a regional culture should make it common knowledge that your stay at this level should be limited. How was that for a run-on sentence?
It's a little different for Captains making around $100K/yr. Hence less of them planning to leave.

I get the same response from many captains on the line. Bewildering considering the state of this place and the trend of other regionals.

He's pretty young, and if he is going to United or Delta, he will make the pay up pretty quickly.

Hell, No. I'm still paying 16 years later for my ERAU education. So, am I gonna die one day, you betcha but not from flying a regional jet I can guarantee you that.

Now if I worked at FedEx, UPS or even was an international driver then yes you're gonna die younger from that job. Just look at those guys! They can have it and the money that comes along with it. So the secret is out, this is the easiest job in the world and if you look at it right its also enjoyable.

You guys are always looking for something more and when you have it your still not happy. You would be crying on CAL Forums if it wasn't your still stuck down here at the minors. FUPM!
LOL. Good one. Your post actually makes you sound like the tool. Don't be so quick to judge. But I guess since flying is so boring and all you must be the worlds most efficient aviator. Wish I was cool like you

The ERJ side has been in decline since early 2006. I wouldn't lose hope in the senior crj captains because I think it takes a year or two of solid incompetence before anyone really likes to see the writing on the wall. I am going to go out on a limb and say our top 4-500 are staying but the other 2500 are literally tripping over themselves to get out of here.

Also we have a base in the northeast and everyone that is hiring has at least one big northeast base so it is easier for the ERJ guys to make the jump.

Are a lot of ERJ pilots CAL interns because United has taken the lion's share of attrition

Obviously individual situation might be different causing the senior pilots to stay but if the regional model is dying and you know that, take the hit for the short term in order to have a job later on. This is also not possible for those who are set to retire in the next 5 years or so. I know Scott had put out a list of retirements a while back and wonder how many we will be losing each year.
