This is 100% correct, it is a no go because DALPA and National would be sued by regional pilots looking for a windfall. The ONLY way it could work is if the Delta pilots sued the regional pilots, and forced a legal settlement in court of a staple job for the regional pilots. This can not happen as long as both regional and mainlines are represented by ALPA. One of those groups has to leave the association for the profession to be restored.
It only takes one regional pilot, ONE, to kill the entire deal.

Merger protocol encourages pilots to reach a consensus on SLI as part of a JPWA.
IMHO it would be better if labor could get it's stuff together and then go to management instead of the current situation where management says "we're merging ... you children figure out who gets what corner of the sandbox."

Wow...the only shred of hope you all have left is a complete merger of all three airlines. Gee how did someone as smart as JA not figure this out sooner? Oh right, because it's the one idea that is completely off the table. Perhaps if Inc was run by someone who hadn't invested almost 40 years of their life to building, they might entertain the idea. As it is, SkyWest is JAs family business, from the beginning when no one would take it off their hands for free, to what they've built it into today. They sure as heck aren't letting a unionized pilot group dictate how they run their business. Maybe you can all hopefully outlive JA and the next guy won't be as sentimental. Good luck!

Exactly. Couldn't be more on the money. All that XJT/ASA's management is doing right now is extracting as much $$$$$ as possible from the aircraft. They are going to sacrifice the pilots' for thier $$$$$. Yet, some don't see it coming. Every pilot there should jump ship, or accept the fact that they WILL be starting all over again. Everything is going as planned for management, they knew the TA would never pass.

A chart from Bombardier's C Series update is interesting.
That bump around 50 seats communicates to me that the death of the 50 seat platforms may be exaggerated (and Delta prefers to offer less capacity than demand to keep prices up). There will continue to be a market, perhaps not as large a market, but there is a market for that unit of capacity.
There are going to be problems staffing express carriers if the new ATP rule survives. Carriers (A4A) are already spinning up their lobbying efforts to roll back the rule, or amend it to allow a "Restricted ATP" who can only serve in a multi pilot crew environment (think intern > mentor, instead of FO / Captain).
It is too early to take any positions on the concept, but, my thought is that the better path is to make "express" jobs positions within the branded mainline carrier. There is no shortage of applicants at the legacy mainline carriers. One way to staff express positions, without lowering standards, is to assimilate the pilots already at the express carriers and replace them with pilots within the brand's seniority list as new hires come on board the branded express carrier.
It was a simple matter for Pan Am to extend it's seniority list down to capture Ransome (Pan Am Express) and some of those pilots retired from Delta Air Lines having enjoyed a tremendous career.
Only ALPA has the ability to reasonably facilitate such a vision. This is an opportunity for ALPA to provide real leadership and for ALPA membership to mean something again.

We have a static fleet plan. As leases and or CPAs expire, aircraft are parked. I'm sure they are waiting until that happens in more significant numbers to try to show us the pain and come back with concessions again.

I keep getting airline apps messages form ExpressJet asking to interview me even though I do not even hold a US license. What is the deal with these guys? Is there at least movement?
