Has the wifi ever worked in the DTW crew room?

Yes, and when the base first opened, it was fast. But Skywest decided to nuke the connections due to everyone slowing down the network because all they can afford is a 56k connection.

This can not happen as long as both regional and mainlines are represented by ALPA. One of those groups has to leave the association for the profession to be restored.

It only takes one regional pilot, ONE, to kill the entire deal.
Mesabah,

What if proposed as a "take it or leave it" deal, open to a vote?

Merger protocol encourages pilots to reach a consensus on SLI as part of a JPWA.

IMHO it would be better if labor could get it's stuff together and then go to management instead of the current situation where management says "we're merging ... you children figure out who gets what corner of the sandbox."

Actually, the opposite is true, merger policy is designed to avoid a DFR suit by not reaching consensus. I call ALPA merger policy, the "blame the arbitrator" policy.

So if ASA AND SkyWest are merged while SKW is still non union, it's almost certain they would lose their seniority unless they voted in ALPA. They're banking ALPA gets voted out in such a merger, but that's a fantasy. So bring it on Slats and NVUS, I'll be nice to you when you're my FO.

Is there something in the water at Expressjet??? There is going to be ZERO merger, and ZERO seniority list integration. ZERO. You guys had spineless fish negotiating for years and produced ZERO. Why would anyone on the planet think they're going to merge now?
Well, spineless fish negotiators is one way to put it. But that has nothing to do with merger/integration. As long as it's about money, there is always a chance. Don't take that to mean anything else other than that you don't actually know that there is zero chance.

As it is, SkyWest is JAs family business, from the beginning when no one would take it off their hands for free, to what they've built it into today. They sure as heck aren't letting a unionized pilot group dictate how they run their business. Maybe you can all hopefully outlive JA and the next guy won't be as sentimental. Good luck!
Exactly! Which means he will try to do what's best for his blood line. That has NOTHING to do with pilots. If you actually think that he sees 3000 strangers as his blood line, then you are being naive.

Exactly. Couldn't be more on the money. All that XJT/ASA's management is doing right now is extracting as much $$$$$ as possible from the aircraft. They are going to sacrifice the pilots' for thier $$$$$. Yet, some don't see it coming. Every pilot there should jump ship, or accept the fact that they WILL be starting all over again. Everything is going as planned for management, they knew the TA would never pass.
Extracting money? I thought XJT was losing money for Inc? Or are there accounting shenanigans going on? Wouldn't put it past our immoral CEO.

And JA is President of the Board. Hard to argue with that, huh?
That's one vote out of how many?

Don't fool yourself. He will do what he feels he needs to do. That has nothing to do with pilots.

There are going to be problems staffing express carriers if the new ATP rule survives. Carriers (A4A) are already spinning up their lobbying efforts to roll back the rule, or amend it to allow a "Restricted ATP" who can only serve in a multi pilot crew environment (think intern > mentor, instead of FO / Captain).

It is too early to take any positions on the concept, but, my thought is that the better path is to make "express" jobs positions within the branded mainline carrier. There is no shortage of applicants at the legacy mainline carriers. One way to staff express positions, without lowering standards, is to assimilate the pilots already at the express carriers and replace them with pilots within the brand's seniority list as new hires come on board the branded express carrier.

It was a simple matter for Pan Am to extend it's seniority list down to capture Ransome (Pan Am Express) and some of those pilots retired from Delta Air Lines having enjoyed a tremendous career.

Only ALPA has the ability to reasonably facilitate such a vision. This is an opportunity for ALPA to provide real leadership and for ALPA membership to mean something again.
A concept like this is already being discussed within ALPA.

We have a static fleet plan. As leases and or CPAs expire, aircraft are parked. I'm sure they are waiting until that happens in more significant numbers to try to show us the pain and come back with concessions again.

Unreal.

I keep getting airline apps messages form ExpressJet asking to interview me even though I do not even hold a US license. What is the deal with these guys? Is there at least movement?

Before someone tells me to read through this thread, please keep in mind that there are 5854 posts, most of which include very little factual information. Obviously, I'm picking through it. Ur don't have time to read it all.

Thanks

I have been getting them as well, never applied. Seems pretty obvious to me that airlineapps just strait up gives airlines your information without your permission.

Maybe airline apps will start paying us to fill out applications?

I work for them and I'm getting these INTERVIEW NOW messages. I think it's an error in the system.
