2nd. There are rumors some of us on active duty may be allowed to VSP, so I may be entering the job hunt soon. I agree about the inside talk, and I've read on other threads that management seems to be using every opportunity to punish the pilots for the no vote on the TA. Would current XJT pilots advise looking at other regionals right now?
Punish? No, they don't have to. It's more subtle. Their immoral whipsaw business plan is in place. It does the "punishing" while middle management keeps their hands clean. For right now, we have the static fleet plan they threatened us with if we voted no. That means that no aircraft are renewed when their lease and or CPA they belong to expire. Their "punishment" strategy is passive aggressive like that. They try to lull the pilots into thinking that it is what it is and they can claim plausible denial. When in fact it's all part of Inc's sinister plan. They are probably waiting for the pain of a shrinking fleet before they think about coming back again and try for concessions again.

Whatever fleet plans are, that's what they are. They are just trying to get us to concede in exchange for changes that are going to happen anyway. Pilots do not make or break fleet plan choices for airlines. Maybe some scope tweaking happens to comply such as the creation of the ERJ 140, but not much more than that. I wish we were as important as we think we are in determining fleet plans. We're not. We just have to demand to be paid for the equipment that is coming one way or another. We should not be paying the value of our careers out for airplanes they are going to be operating no matter what.

Are you going on a whim with this statement? From my personal experiences face to face with said MEC chairman one would feel the opposite of what you have stated above. He was in full force selling the last TA to the point of absolute frustration when his attempt to influence my vote in favor had failed. He was truly convinced that the doors would close overnight pending a rejected TA. He said you will "NEVER" have a better offer if this is sent back. His words - not mine.

Beware….

Not the impression I got at all from speaking with him last week. He specifically said the last TA was crap and was actively seeking pilot opinions on what would make an acceptable TA.

And thats the problem what are we supposed to believe out of him? The guy basically never fly's the line and I'd hope that he's being sincere in admitting now that it was crap. Maybe enough line guys told him how bad things have gotten that he has finally seen the light. On the other hand maybe he's playing us all for personal gain. I'll let you know in about five years from now how it all works out.

I don't doubt that is the experience you had. I'm just wondering if he is full of crap or has something to gain by serving the lip service.

That was the only time I've talked to him aside from training events, so I'm nervous to hear that you had the exact opposite impression.

A lot of people vote yes and when it doesn't pass they say they voted no. It's very rare to talk to someone who voted yes, especially when they are running for some office.

I've spent quite a bit of time with him in the last week or so, and he definitely has a clear plan to deliver a better contract on a short time line. So regardless of your past experiences, he is sincere.
