So, if time is on your side in negotiations (pilot shortage) then why are they in a hurry to get another TA together?

just passing along some info... talked to a schoolhouse guy yesterday; they only have 2 new hires in the latest class at LXJT. Its all they could scrape up he said.

Here opens the gates to lower the standards for pilots hired. Intern we had one day on the JS told us the pool is drying up and they might start lowering the bar...
See what happens if they pull that off. I know at places like silver they were hiring anyone with a pulse, of course more than half couldn't make it through training.

Did they leave the heat on to get them in tune with FL flying?

Silver has a 50 percent washout rate? What happened?

Because there is a huge window of opportunity open for us right now if we get our #@$& together ASAP. If we don't it's back to the previous plan (aircraft retirements/shrinkage). We have massive leverage right now because of this. We heed to take advantage of it, and a plan is being executed.

I agree that the ExpressJet pilots (L-ASA, L-XJT) need to come to an agreement to operate under one set of rules. Right now you have a scheduling department that has to abide by two different sets of rules regarding both pilot groups. After you do that, the Dispatch groups could probably find it in their hearts to come to an agreement to be one group as well. You have ASA dispatchers sitting back watching the XJT dispatchers get their asses handed to them and thanks to those lovely union rules the ASA guys can't do a damn thing to step in and help out. The FAs and the Mechanics would be next in line.
However, even after this dream scenario is finally realized, Inc still isn't going to throw new flying at an airline that can't handle what it already has. Unfortunately, shrinking to a manageable size is almost a must. Once the operation has its priorities straight then you can start adding a piece or two here and there.
