DAL will reduce CRJ200 operations in 2014

Who has the leverage ?
The real question is who is stuck paying the leases on those aircraft and for how long. If Delta is on the hook for ExpressJet -200 leases then it might not make sense to dump them as it might cost more in the end.

It's not all about pilot costs.

According the management, the big problem is the XJT side CPA with UAL. You know, the one they negotiated when we bought them. Apparently now it's up to us to take concessions instead of them renegotiating that.

UAL owns the ERJs. If they don't renegotiate, just self terminate the contract, give them back the planes, and tell them good luck finding a regional to staff them!

Heck it got real ugly for a while when RAH was trying to staff just 34 Q400s.
Until a new CPA is negotiated, Skywest is still bound by the old CPA they negotiated with UAL when they bought XJT. That means that they are required to operate the ERJs until the head lease expires.

I bet you have to pay for fuel and maintenance on your A36, right?

SkyWest has a CPA with Delta for 200 flying over the next 5 years. Delta would have to buy them out. Bendover is wholly owned with no CPA and thus their airplanes can be parked tomorrow. That's the difference.

This is a flat out lie, I don't fly the CR2 but on a 2 hr flight you will burning over 3k lbs of gas, that's $1,300+ just on gas and I know this is very conservative. Add to that crew, maintenance, insurance, leases and other cost related including back office folks and these RJs cost thousands of dollars an hr to operate. If endeavor did it for sub 400 an hr these airplanes would make a profit with just the folks sitting on the exit row!!!! Please don't come here spewing garbage.

I think staffing will play a larger role, people will go to EXJ over Endeavor and their staffing is already suffering.
