I just held my first hard line on the LXJT side. 12 days off working weekends. After ILIW I now have every weekend off along with 19 days off. Will I be able to do that in PBS as the most junior line holder in the system?
As somebody that has been a junior line holder for quite sometime......unfortunately the answer is NO, not even close

No. You won't. Is this still an option if there is no real open time to speak of?

Real question. If the most junior guy can use this to get 19 days off instead of 12, it stands to reason that all the pilots senior can do this as well. Ergo, all the LXJT guys must be getting 19 days off???? How can this be?

Not everyone can do this. There is a finite number of days in a bid month that are set to +4. Once it goes down to zero, someone needs to pick up a trip in order for someone else to drop that day. There is always trips in open time because of transition conflicts, FAR conflicts, contractual conflicts, training, vacation, and any trips dropped for people on going on leave or no longer working here.

Maybe I was just lucky. I did drop myself down below guarantee but the time off is more important to me.

Can anyone confirm this? If so, what did we get in return? Oh well.. looks like I get to commuter clause more and go home while DAL has to explain to THEIR passengers why there are no pilots.

June 17, 2014

As Delta continues to reevaluate its pass travel program and enhance employees pass travel privileges, the airline will introduce a new travel standby priority for employees effective Oct. 1.

All active Delta employees who travel standby on SkyWest- or ExpressJet-operated flights will be listed under a higher priority code - S3B1 instead of S3C.

This enhancement will allow active Delta employees and their pass riders to board after SkyWest or ExpressJet employees and before all other Delta subsidiary employees on SkyWest- or ExpressJet-operated flights.

Confirmed. But why are you up in arms, this doesent change anything on your own metal. It will only effect you XJT people on SkyWest flights in that instead of mainline being grouped with everyone else in S3C their active employees will bump all express carriers just like they do on every other regional partner besides OO/EV.

There is more to this message than you're being told. Parents/retiree now on S3D, and Endeavor will be above all other DCI on Delta

Ok, so your particular issue was with the line you were awarded under line bidding, which you fixed by swapping and going below guarantee. This really doesn't speak to .... Why the opposition to pref bid.

Well, you are making broad assumptions. I think those of us who are against it, are because we are comfortable with the devil we know. Also, many of us have long lost any confidence in the MEC negotiating something that maintains the same compensation and QOL we currently benefit from line bidding, or the company just doing the right thing once it's turned on.

People are just afraid of change. Sometimes, rightfully so.
