At least you're making some decent coin, I'm topped out and getting paid peanuts to be a diplomat to whatever captain I'm flying with each week. We have a lot of great people in DTW, don't get me wrong. I just don't get paid enough for this garbage.
I'll be senior enough to commute in the first day and out the last day with commutable trips. You won't hear me complain.

Sorry you hate your job so much. You should really update your resume.

I think most have come to the conclusion it isn't worth our health and sanity to dwell on issues out of our control. We all have a job, right?

Although, I guess if you have to vent, the internet is a good place..

While I'm on a rant, F%@ those ultra-senior FOs (0-900 on the master seniority list) who all of a sudden decide they want to play captain after 12-20 years. Should be a statute of limitations on the upgrade.

</soapbox>

P.S. F&@$ this place (ASA)[/QUOTE]

I know some bitter people, but man are you bitter! I think that the majority of your bitterness stems from the ever frustrating fact that upgrading hasn't happened and the chances, at least now, of getting to a major are pretty slim, even with all of your flight time. We all get it, and every one of us is frustrated. However...look at it this way:

1. You're topped out on the pay scale, most likely $46+/hour if you're on the 700, which I'm assuming you are...if not, you're making $43+ on the 200.

2. You have 3 weeks of vacation.

3. You're likely bidding in the top 20% of your seat, and if it's not top 20%, it's the top 30%.

4. You're 100% vested in your 401k and you're topped out in terms of contribution.

5. You essentially get whatever schedule you want with all weekends and major holidays off.

6. Lastly, since you claim that you're so close to upgrading, the next opportunity XJT has to add aircraft to our fleet, or grow by the smallest bit...you're NEXT IN LINE TO UPGRADE.

I don't mean to lecture you and I totally understand why you're mad, but you have it better than half the pilots here at ASA not to mention you have it better than the majority of FO's at other airlines who are stuck at $37/hr with the same amount of time put in as you.

Lastly, those ultra senior FOs can do whatever they want regarding upgrading at their pace...telling them to **** off is like you working at a restaurant and being ****ed off somebody had the audacity to come in for lunch at 2:30PM.

Sorry but a lot of us don't exactly see anything that tells us that there will be a fleet growth here.

There's nothing good about any of these position notices, most people in both seats are losing seniority and as usual, the top 40% is a revolving door. Pilots from ATL bid DTW in search of a better line (or getting off reserve) without any research only to realize how much the commute from ATL-DTW sucks and then bid back to ATL 6 months later. Those of us who are a bit more permanent are sick of it. Yeah, I know, that's how seniority works. It's their prerogative.

Hold on a second, had you upgraded earlier thanks to those ultra senior FOs staying in the right seat you would sing a different tune. Now all of a sudden because you are bitter and disgruntled they should be locked in the right seat so they can deal with you moaning about being on reserve as their CA even though they are senior to you? Cry me a river....

You probably have flown with me and enjoyed it. I'm not this bitter on the line.

You make a rational response. I don't disagree. I do enjoy my schedule and vacation week selections. I'm lucky in the fact that while stuck in the right seat for 7+ years, I have been fairly senior for many of those years. Trust me, I'm enjoying it while I can and recognize it will go away with the next move (new job or new seat).

As much as it's not wrong, that customer coming in at 2:30 or five minutes before closing is still an @$$h0!e.

That barely made sense, but I see what you're saying, thing is, I wouldn't be complaining to any FOs about my reserve schedule if I was a CA. More senior CAs? probably, but not FOs because I would know from experience that many would give their left nut to trade spots.

Here are some notes I took.

1. Company realizes they have a revenue problem and is going to focus more on revenue than costs. Doesn't mean that costs aren't a factor, just that they will focus more on revenue going forward.

2. Company has not achieved the synergies they expected from the merger.

3. Does not "look good" for the ERJ side. CRJ side should be OK. ERJ side on "3-5 year wind down", while looks like many of the CRJs will be extended.

4. Best thing would be a single pilot group, however at this time that doesn't look possible. Too many differences.

5. ASA side has a good working relationship with management at this time, and they are focused on improving the operation.

6. ASA MEC has a "very definite plan to leave the dead weight behind".

7. LXJT MEC has lack of direction.

8. Next negotiations not until OCT.

9. PBS arbitration has been delayed a month to see if LXJT side can come around.

10. ASA side working on several side letters to improve things, including reserves and duty in on phone.
