Someone mentioned excess positions earlier. I thought we no longer had excess positions. Now, if they really don’t want to up the numbers for a given seat they set the min and max at what it is already staffed at.....like MD-11 captain in this bed.
Now let’s say that 10 people bid the MD-11 captain position. And let’s say that they are Senior to the 10 most junior MD-11 captains on the current list. They would be awarded MD-11 captain and the 10 junior folks on the list would go somewhere else. Hence the term bump and flush....
That’s the way I understood it anyway....if I’m wrong will someone please correct me!

The only way the 10 people who bid MD-11 Captain will be awarded the seat in your scenario is if 10 MD-11 Captains bid off to a different seat creating the 10 open slots. If no Captains bid off no pilots will be awarded the position.

People would be forced out of their crew positions if the max staffing level is less than the current staffing level
In your example, MD Captains would only be awarded slots if they are available due to other MD Capts moving out to other seats.
The good news is, we will not have to wait long to see who is right.
Cheers

I've always felt the practice bids are for the company, not us. They have to run it several times to make sure the IT department gets it right. So they have practice bids to run the programs with as many iterations as possible.

So, it looks as if the company is still maintaining the 24 month bid restriction for down/lateral bids. Section 24.f.e. states "Note: At the date of implementation of the new System Bid system, pilots will be considered to have zero DLBA awards (i.e., the first DLBA will be measured at the close of the first “new” System Bid)."
What am I missing?
And, pretty sure the 777 bid contains an error showing the the current awarded 777 CA is seniority #4250. That doesn't sound correct.
