Ha! Totally clueless. But thanks for the characterizations.
I made more last year than any of my previous years, sure. But I also got involuntarily extended more than I would have liked. RE: work rules.
Codifying scope language does in fact look out for the betterment of this entire pilot group. If you can’t see that, then you’re delusional. Or you’re on your way out, and dgaf.
This contract is riddled with holes. Why not improve them? People are faced with stagnation, loss of flying, closures of their base, retirement of their fleet. QOL and work rules are paramount.
A “fix” (whatever that means) to retirement means nothing. It’s a band-aide. A former block rep once told me “if we fix it, we’ll never have to negotiate retirement again.” What kind of garbage nonsense is that? Of course you will. You can sit there and pout all you want, but the fact is there are a lot of new people here with many many years to go. They value negotiation capital spent on work rules over anything else.

Well then, let's go to the tape.
FedEx year 5/6 757 captain, Europe-based. 3 months of training at the beginning of the year.
300k gross
26k DC
35k foreign-domicile housing allowance
361k total
1115 credit hours
150 block hours
54 landings
~12 days away from home a month
Took all my vacation (18 days x 6hrs a day), didn't pick up an extra flying, had a little extra pay for recruiting work, saw a lot of Europe.

Now a few more blasts from the past.
FDX, can reserve JS 21 days out. Protected if you’re company mental going into a trip with a couple exceptions like duty day, international trip.
But most of us who commute just bid and fly deadhead trips with paid tickets to/from the trip.
If you’re going to commute, there’s no other place you should consider.
Commuted at UAL as well, that on the other hand was absurd. Seniority based JS until time of departure was crazy to me.

I can attest to that. Flying BNA-IND-BNA all week. Hotel pick up at 2230, 40 min flight to Indy and there by 1am local, 1.5hr nap, 40 min flight back in BNA and in bed by 0530. 7 hours door to door with a nap in the middle. Doesn't get much easier than that for the nighttime freight dawg.

To my knowledge the results of that survey have not been released to the pilot group. I’m not an MEC insider like you, since you have seen the survey results you must be an ALPA associate with executive session access or access to information protected by an NDA.
For the record, changing my username in some attempt to hurt my feelings on a web board isn’t going to work and for your own sake I would mention that it’s an ineffective tool for advancing an argument. This is business to me. Nothing more, nothing less. If protecting Purple pilot jobs is somehow not something that interests you, so be it.
Concessions in Section 11 and 25 exist, they’ll be called a “choice” but it’s concession from current language. Confirmed by an ALPA rep.

Come on now, you can call me ignorant to advance an argument, but changing your user name is off limits. So, which rep is disclosing executive session information? Did they tell you the concessions in sections 11 and 25? The MEC stated that after the survey, they were assured the goals hadn't changed, or something like that.

Well then, let's go to the tape.
Hmm, 3 months in training at the beginning of the year at WB FO pay, then 5/6 year NB captain pay. No mention of extensions. Took all of your vacation, yet somehow managed 1115 credit hours.
Now a few more blasts from the past.
No, I think I'll stick with my original opinion for your intentions.

There are some great things we are able to do, there’s no denying that. But that shouldn’t be a reason to stick your head in the sand and ignore the other parts that are severely lacking and pose significant threats to everyone on this seniority list.
4 years ago when I was DHing to BNA, we didn’t have 30 purple painted 737’s on our Paris ramp doing flying that was just recently flown by FedEx pilots. And our CEO wasn’t giving interviews about the company utilizing more 3rd party lift to fly FedEx freight.
Times change. Opinions change. Priorities… they change. It’s called pattern bargaining for a reason. Why is it so difficult to understand this concept?

no they didn’t. We’ve only been surveyed once in the last two years and that was 3 months ago. They still haven’t posted the results, and if I recall correctly, they didn’t even have scope as an option or discussion point available in the survey unless you wrote it in.

We need to use all options to get back to the table asap and open Section 1, along with deleting our concessionary language - which has not been sent to a TA yet. New industry standards have been set in pattern bargaining, and we are still in open negotiations. We should use the opportunity we have received in our favor. By that I mean we did not have a TA last year with the company's best offer then, it could have passed and would have sucked.
The Company is suddenly **** poor after how many years of record profits, stock buybacks, etc...? I don't think so.

I find it hard to believe the blame lies with the union on not achieving the May 1 year “goal”. That lies in the companies basket. To say otherwise would indicate you are on the companies side. Only two sides in negotiations What side are you on? Do you think the company was offering things acceptable to us in May 2022? Let’s point fingers in the proper direction at the company not at each other.

We negotiated in good faith, the company didn't. We have a pretty big leg to stand on when it comes to the NMB.

Question as a pax guy on the outside looking in. Can cargo use pattern bargaining off of pax? I’ve been told by reps that the NMB doesn’t allow pax to pattern off of cargo. Curious if you’ve heard about it the other way around.
