You need to read the book called Flash Boys. Could very well be closest to the server and at the right second.

The union, and the company should take steps to insure this does not happen.

There it is. We found the guy who doesn't want to pay the yearly subscription to fxcal, bidx or acrobid. "That is cheating, they're using bots." You still do it old school, take 5 minutes to enter your contingency drop in VIPS. By then not only is that trip gone, the scraps they traded out of are gone.

Your problem is probably that you are using atomic time. Virtually every online computer system in the US works off Coordinated Universal Time. I needed as part of a business to make reservations for a very limited product. I carefully used atomic time when each window opened and had zero success. Switching to CST solved the issue. They are not the same. Your cellphone should display CST.

UTC is the legal basis of time in the world. UTC is itself derived from International Atomic Time (TAI) from which it differs only by a whole number of seconds, currently 32.

32 seconds is a deal killer!

The fact we need to use 3rd party programs to get a better schedule is sad! Even the worst regionals have real time trip trading and text message open time alerts.

Just FYI, we're not the only airline that uses 3rd-party programs. I'd venture to say nearly EVERY AA pilot at one point in their career was paying $21 to Lite Sabre.

DAL only has real time trip trading between pilots. Trades with open time run 4 times a day.

Pre-merger, NWA had some neat 3rd party programs, such as automated JS booking and OT alerts, but those all went away after the merger. One guy tried to keep his going, but the Company said nope.

There were a few programs that the one permitted vendor ran, but they eventually pulled the plug. In any event, all they did was sort trips and help you organize your bids. There was no open time alerting.

One part of the premium time system at DAL does use an app alerts called ARCOS. The app or phone notifies you, and you can select trips and raise your hand for them. It's all processed in seniority order.
