Was fractional years ago, then/now airline (non-legacy). Got laid off at the tail end of the Great Recession but knew before then I couldn’t do it another 30+ years. I know things have likely changed in the last 10 years but schedule was the main reason. Fractional covers days vs trips so it’s more like a reserve line bidding system for everyone (except no sitting at home). Major airline pay is better (for now) and schedules are much more “flexible” where I work. Fractional was before children and didn’t like being gone from home for 6(+/-) days. Now I don’t like being gone 2. QOL at either a Fractional or non-regional are going to be a step up. Best advice talk to people at both Flexjet and the next step airline you’re interested in and go from there.

Default Who's getting interviews?

Wondering who is getting interviews / hired recently at Flexjet? I am hoping to get on with them instead of heading to a regional and wondering if I should hold out any hope.. 1600 TT 270 ME all 91 flying and it would be my first jet job with no ATP. Is Flexjet giving interviews without ATP written like NetJets has been doing? I know its not a given, but stranger things have happened before! Thanks

Last I’ve heard, you need the ATP written done before interviewing. We’ll get you the ATP on your type ride. What are you flying on the 91 gig?

Hi folks, considering making the jump to the fractional/135 world, and FlexJet seems like a great option. A few questions, if someone wouldn't mind answering:
  1. I have a side business in real estate, so I'm interested in working as few days as possible. From what I understand, you can bid for as few as 12 days on/month at Flex, is that realistically possible in the first year or two, or only once you get a Red Label position (or even then?)
  2. Some have mentioned back-to-back 4-5 leg days with min rest, is that seriously common? If so, is it limited to the Phenom fleet, etc? (I'm guessing that the Gulfstreams and Globals don't bounce around that much) I'm OK with "paying my dues" and working hard initially, as long as there's light at the end of the tunnel.
  3. More about the Gulfstream/Global fleets in general; I understand it's essentially merit-based to get there, but on average, how long does it take to get to those fleets?
  4. Lastly, are short, well-groomed beards allowed, or is there a clean-shaven policy?
Many thanks in advance!

This has all been covered if you take the time to read through the forums.

1. I always bid 12-13 day lines and was never awarded one once. I routinely achieved 14-15 day lines (5-6 day tours). DRL you can work 5-6 day lines but you’ll lose out on a lot of money. It is I ncentivized at 7 and 8 day lines.

2. Yes, last I kept track I averaged 3.5 legs a day. Routinely 3-4 legs with some 5 leggers. Mentally prepare for 3-4 per day and you’ll be happy when you get 2.

3. ILC - anywhere recently from 6 months to never. You interview and get chosen. Some guys been trying for years and never been picked. Don’t count on it, and then if you do happen to get picked you’ll be happy.

4. Full beards are not allowed and mustaches & goatees must be trimmed close to the face.

I'm R-ATP 1250 with a ATP written, worth applying? Doubt I'll ever get looked at.

If you're interested then apply and see what happens. You'll never know unless you try.
