Life lesson here boys from a mid 40s surfer/pilot.
Don’t listen to what others say and don’t try to interpret what they really mean. Some people like to flex, some little to lie, some like to speak the truth, who cares...Do what you want and have no regrets and you will never be bothered by those spouting and pontificating.
Left NJA for a 121, even in today’s day and age I would do it again five times a day and 10 times on Sunday.

Commuting, sitting reserves in a stinky crashpad with 14 other dudes you don't know, lugging around a food bag for a week, buying expensive airport food, trying to get a seat to non rev to work or home, and dealing with nasty people in a crowded cattle car. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. No thanks. Now that furloughs and downsizing are right around the corner, I'm glad I made the switch to fracs. Quality of work life has been 10 times better ever since.

Oh god, can we just all agree we enjoy working in our field? No need for a ****ing contest guys. I enjoy Frac life, I get why the airline guys enjoy theirs. Not sure what everyone has to make it a contest. Pay the bills, enjoy the time with family, and keep er moving!

As to your post - it sounds like if you were to have lived in base most of your post wouldn't apply.

I lived in base as an FO, but had to switch when I upgraded.

That’s awesome bro!! I’m glad you have no regrets and it’s working for ya. I don’t have the same results in 121 you had so for me it’s prime time and I’m happier than a surfer on 2 for 1 night at local fish taco joint! No regrets and live and let live....
To answer the other question about even in today’s operating environment, yup still glad I left and if I am let go I’ll find something but I unpacked the years at NJA and don’t ever wish to go back...

For crying out loud. One more time.
Don’t go through life caring what faceless posters on APC say about your career decisions.
At the end of the day I don’t compare my life to the person next door. I’ve checked the boxes I wanted to check. I still enjoy waking up before my wife and seeing her hair stick out from under the blankets. My kids are well adjusted. Okay, my daughter knows how to handle C-4 and can field strip a SAW, but otherwise they are well adjusted and have done well with their lives.
i won’t be the richest person in the graveyard, but I’ll do ok.
Chevy, Ford, or MOPAR. Piper or Cessna. Robbie or Schweizer. Same arguments as legacy, ULCC, cargo, ACMI, fractional, EMS, corporate... man. It’s great to have options.
I guess I was naive to think people didn’t argue over such things.
