I applied this past Saturday. Nothing yet. I am exactly where you are at. I don't have the 500 turbine time and I can not decide if I want to pay for the ATP/CTP course out of pocket or not when so many places are offering it when hired. I'm way over the TT and MUlti time required. It''s not easy finding a multi turbine gig anymore.
This is like a game of musical chairs right now. After doing much of nothing because of Covid, as some of us have been laid off because of it like I have, we are all anxious to live on again. Looks like we (pilots like you and I) may have to wait to see if the requirements come down before we can have a seat open in this room.
Thanks for all the other info. I'd go for the long hauls like the 14 day on 15 off. Being single I have adventures to go on. Maybe like steal a multi turbine for time building. HA!!!

It’s not easy finding a multi-turbine gig anymore? Are you joking? Literally every regional is hiring right now and most will provide ATP/CTP along with type ratings. Get on with one for a couple of years, fly your a$$ off, upgrade early, and get the TPIC time. Now is as good a time as ever.
You want jokes??? I'm on your side."You quit logging flight time 10 years ago when you hit ATP mins?" Yeah, I got behind because there was no further goal attached. I got a week behind then a month then years. This must say something negative about my character, eh?

What the hell did I just read? No disrespect man, but if that’s the attitude you’re rolling with, it isn’t a surprise that you’re getting TBNT replies.
I’d advise picking the flying lane you want to be in and seeking interview prep services to iron out the wrinkles that are making potential employers uncomfortable.

likely argue with an interviewer who’s trying to review your flight time. If you really think that the above question should be asked at an interview you’re either a troll or someone who’s lost their mind.
Same…

Judging by your troll-like post history you appear to have been too forthcoming in your logbook remarks, had massive gaps in your flight history, and most
likely argue with an interviewer who’s trying to review your flight time. If you really think that the above question should be asked at an interview you’re either a troll or someone who’s lost their mind.

Interview prep software? I like who I am. Iron out what wrinkles? Being called a troll or someone without a mind? I know how to fly airplanes. I'm not a used car salesman trying to throw a pitch in order to sell myself. The airlines are the only ones that request it in my experience as if they don't know what they want OR make us figure that out. IDK maybe other places do too but I never experienced those questions on other interviews except the airlines and they never ask to hand over my log book as if they are the FAA. I was always hired to fly an airplane not pass some over the top psychological test or join the military. Looks like I fail there
. Don't worry about me. I will find a seat somewhere good for me where I'm appreciated again.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

What if... we (pilots) were told the reason we where NOT chosen to help? We have the skills and ability to learn obviously to make it this far. Just, what if? There is a serious one. Could be a log book entry making them feel we are being dishonest. Could be a past employer black balling. Could be the shoulders representing bad posture. Could be blinking too often. Could be not looking straight into the camera. Could be because "I don't know" was given as an answer to a what if HR question because you were trained to fly an airplane. Could be a bad hair day looking like a troll. Or could be that we are too old. What if we never know? What if we never find out?

I never had massive gaps in my flight history until Covid. I have never argued with an interviewer reviewing my flight time or any other time. I do NOT think the above question should be asked at all (that was a sarcastic joke for fun), those are the same thoughts as I have about some of the HR questions I am asked. You are telling me no one here has thought "WTF" is this question for during an interview? The employee can walk away too thinking this company is trollish or has lost it's mind (as I have). Oh, but who needs who here? Does the company need me more than I need the company? Do I need the company or money more than the company needs me? Give your honest opinion. Pilot shortage? hmmmmm, no such thing. If so, this would NOT be my experience and no one would have to order interview prep software for "what if" questions to iron out the wrinkles in self. I believe the wrinkles are somewhere else in culture. It's in our nature to want to help others but bring out the ward doctors is on the extreme in my opinion.

Take an honest assessment of yourself as a professional pilot. You keep complaining about how bad companies need pilots, yet won’t hire you, then get a defensive attitude on top of that.
You still have no ATP, no substantial amount of turbine time, and the lack of experience it takes flying fast turbine powered aircraft. But, but, but….screw these companies for not offering me a job.
I hope you realize that most everybody that is blazing along in this career has done whatever it takes to get to the next level. You may not like the regionals. Fine, most pilots don’t. However, many (including myself) have done a few years or more at a regional because it’s one of the best ways to gain extremely valuable experience in a short amount of time. Flying freight in turbine powered aircraft is another great option. Many have done that for a year or two to step up the career ladder.
The point is, instead of getting on APC forums and complaining, get off your a$$ and make it happen.
Oh, and one last thing. Flexjet and Netjets desire to hire EXPERIENCED, ATP RATED pilots with great attitudes and customer service skills with a strong desire to stay for their career.
Reading the garbage you posted is NOT what they’re looking for.

IDK maybe other places do too but I never experienced those questions on other interviews except the airlines and they never ask to hand over my log book as if they are the FAA.
The airlines look over logbooks because it’s usually required by the FAA and to make sure your flying makes sense. For example, if you log 200 hours in a King Air B100 and they ask you to tell them a little bit about the airplane you’ve been flying and you tell them it has PT-6 engines, they’ll know you’re full of it. Interview over.
Those very scenarios have happened many times throughout the years. Frauds, liars, and “Parker Pen” masters have tried to slither their way through airline hiring boards, but most are screened out with that one method alone.
Don’t be that guy.

Yeah, are you telling me you never been turned down after interview and wondered about the many many possible reasons why? All your guesses are as good as mine. I'm not here to debate with anyone. No, I don't have hundreds of hours flying turbines. It doesn't mean I can or many of us can't learn. We sure have made it through much flight training at this point. What is so difficult about flying turbine at this point to say it is golden as much as lunar landings are? I'm not saying the challenge is not there because of the increase of speed.
I, like most of us have, seems as though I have been living in the twilight zone for the past 2 years. I couldn't tell you what kind of engines were in the last airplane I flew. That is all rote memory material. That kind of learning or Jeopardy game show material keeps no one alive. What kind of glass cockpit? I don't remember. It doesn't mean I'm a liar or stupid.
Challenge a system, any system, and be ready to be called crazy, troll, whiny, garbage, and a victim as if I need to be rescued. I'm simply sharing my experience here with reason of unreasoning. I didn't say I haven't tried regional airlines for sacrifice to gain experience. I have said I don't know why I am, or WE, are not chosen because the reason is never told to us. I am not attacking you are any one here. I am questioning the system and hope to transfer the courage to other pilots here to do so. I give the companies honest reasons why I turn down their offer out of respect. Sometimes this reason they can do something about and sometimes the reason is personal and they can do nothing about it. Why shouldn't they do it for us out of respect and help? However, I have never suffered from shiny jet syndrome so I know that reason may be difficult to share with a company. I have interviewed where HR is trying to make a jet shine and sell to me. I just don't like all the sale pitches no mater which way they come from. I'm not trying to sell the last airplane I flew either. I don't know the engine names anymore. I am a pilot not a dealer. Does knowing all the numbers under the hood of a car make the driver better? Go out and challenge what is true in yourself, I am that guy.

What creates experience? Facing fear creates experience. Every time we face fear is when most experience is gained as pilots. How we react is a learning experience. Some of us react in fatal ways and some of us live to tell and share the experience. I have had more than one dead stick landing, none pilot error either. I have seen Saint Elmo's fire. Those experiences have more value than log book entries and knowing what is under the cowling combined. I have never had to gain control of an airplane that was out of control. That is a fear I have not experienced and I don't want to experience that ever. I'd rather the dead sticks any day over it. I don't have much aerobatic experience and if I could improve myself in anyway it would be here just to gain experience in order to deal with that fear if it ever does happen. It's not in the log books. It's not in rote memory. I have slid on a wet rode while driving and spun 180 out of control, experience. I have laid a motorcycle down twice and almost 3 times, experience. Have I been lucky to walk away? Yeah, many times but under pressure I was able to react and cause minimum injury to myself and most important, no injuries to others. What does a log book say? Nothing. My help and other peoples' help is not needed as I speak on the behalf of other qualified pilots out there wondering why they were not chosen. OK, not a problem. Log book, knowing the numbers under the cowl, and off the wall "what if" questions are more important in their insight. I will continue to stay puzzled.
